Fever I am seeing fevers for the first time in a long while. Some with colds (not COVID). Lots with Roseola . Some with a stomach bug . Fever is a symptom of an illness just like runny nose. But I find parents worry much more about fever. I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again. Don’t fear the fever. Don’t focus on the number. Treat your child. If your previously health child has 102 fever but is drinking and running around they are ok versus your child has a 101... fever and they are vomiting, lethargic and breathing rapidly. Also the temperature may not go down to normal even with meds...and that is ok, I promise. The fever is the body fighting so you don’t necessarily want it gone you want your child to feel more comfortable so they can drink and play. Also meds take time to work sometimes 30-90 mins. And fever is always worse at night. If your child has fever it’s best to keep them out of school or gatherings as they are contagious from whatever illness they have. Consider COVID testing. High fever doesn’t mean worse infection or a need for antibiotics. If fever lasts more than 3-5 days or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms, the child should be seen to look for a source. If your child has an underlying condition or you have a young infant then you need to talk to your doctor right away.

Hi all How are you all doing? It’s been crazy for me but able to settle down this week. My girls started school 4 days per today The kids are so good about being COVID cautious, much better than adults I see so this makes it easier for me to let them go. The schools are doing a great job and rolling with the ever changing schedule. I’m excited for summer I don’t know why but I’m just feeling it. Not the heat excited though. I need to get back into working out. I’ve l...et myself get lazy recently. Morning comes and I just hide under the covers . Basically I just want to hear from some of you. I miss those of you I don’t see anymore. Lots of you ask about Mati. She is still at Sutter. They have her floating around and she spends a good amount of time in the lab. I hope someday we can be together again not sure I can trust anyone else to know how I operate. See more

Can you guess my favorite cup. Ezpz this little cup is amazing. Every 6 month old should have one (you get one from me if you’re my patient). We see that babies who start with an open mouth cup at 6 months just get cup drinking earlier and often can transition off bottles on time. This is a fine motor skill. I recommend just water in the little cup at 6 months and often your little one will need lots of help at first but practice makes perfect. Plus water doesn’t stain . We want independent eaters I pretty much never recommend sippy cups that look like bottles with the soft spouts. I much prefer this cup, 360 cup or favorite non-spill are straw cups (munchkin, zoli.inc) with a weighted straw for first timers. Shout out if you love your tiny ezpz cup.

We all feel like yelling at times. I cannot parent effectively when I am in threat mode. Know yourself and your triggers. Just like we ask our kids to avoid situations so do we. Nobody feels great after yelling.

Last chance for a bit to get a Moderna Covid Vaccine from my office. I will be taking a break from first doses until it gets approved for the younger people ...and then I’m all over getting the kids vaccinated, which I’m hoping the 12+ age group will be approved summertime. Wednesday 4/14 I will be vaccinating the @pacifictigers athletes but have extra doses to offer up to you all. This vaccine is for anyone 18 years and older (only Pfizer is 16+) so get your high school seniors in if old enough and their friends Tell everyone. Let’s end this shit. https://www.balduzzipediatrics.com/covid-vaccines . . . #stocktoncovid19 #thisisourshot

I was asked over on Instagram about how to get kids to brush their teeth. A mom shared this and seems interesting. We use Alexa at our house to encourage autonomy. For example Alexa what is the weather like today so that my kids can make their own decision about what to wear. This seems like a fun way to get some kiddos to brush their teeth. They can ask Alexa or you can but it’s a fun thing they get to do while brushing teeth. So less fight and something that they may look forward to. Let me know if anyone tries it. I’m trying tonight with Lily because that kid still fights me.

Hear and see the wind. Let’s see how you all feel tomorrow. With the warm weather and wind comes ALLERGIES: sneezing, itchy water eyes and clear runny nose. Allergies affect all ages but mainly toddlers and older. But when this windy even babies can get irritated. If you can avoid extra outdoor time when this windy. Good bath/shower at night. OTC meds can help but they don’t cure allergies (neither does honey). If you want a cure with allergy shots go visit the smarter Mr. ...Dr. Balduzzi. Also I get asked about telling between allergies and a cold. It really has to do with season and other symptoms. Fever is never from allergies. Poor appetite and any GI symptoms are not usually from allergies. But also understand that we live in a new world so daycares and schools are not so lenient with runny nose now. Let me see some hands for those suffering See more

FSI is who I’m getting my sleep certification through as I live this everyday with you all and find that sleep is soooo important for everyone to be healthy. So many things change after having a baby but I really hope that I can get my patients/parents better sleep before their baby is 6 years old We all need to prioritize sleep. You know me I’m a huge fan of early bedtimes for everyone. It’s 6:40 now and both my kids are asleep as they had a long day of pool and fun. Know your kid and if you need help let me know.

Ever go get a facial and they scrape off the outer layer of dead skin and peach fuss and then for the next week your skin is soooo smooth and your makeup goes on great. Well....you can do that at home as well. These razors are amazing and so easy to use. It’s says for eyebrows but I use them to basically shave my face and get all the little hairs and dead skin off. My husband used to laugh when I would steal is shaving cream

It’s so hard when your child is not flexible. My Aria struggles with this and it’s so hard to stay patient and positive sometimes. I worry often about how others see her and how she will be as a teen or an adult. Reading this story just made me think about how we all need to be patient with each other and teach our kids to have patience for others. Every kid wants a friend but some need help. Sometimes the more adaptable kids need to help the rigid kids. If your child struggles with this please bring it up to your doctor or teacher. We all want our kids to be perfect and they are but each kid is unique and sometimes as parents we need to learn how best to deal with their uniqueness

They may not like it but it works. And once they finish they love it. It’s a skill they will have for their life. Ms. Chrissie's Swim Lessons

Pool safety. Teach your babies how to swim. Have a pool fence. Use sunscreen or sun shirts. You are responsible for your kiddo. Avoid pool parties where there is drinking and no on guard pool adults. Hire a teen life guard if needed. Both my babies were taught to swim by Ms. Chrissie's Swim Lessons She is amazing and although my kiddos didn’t like it and cried everyday going they both were swimmers by age 3-4 and now spend most days in the pool in the summer. Lessons are star...ting now with this nice weather. Commit to it. It could save your kiddos life. Her website: https://chrissiesfishies.com #stocktonswimlessons #safeswim #babyswimlessons

Today I am reminded to try and see life through the eyes of a small child. They just see the world in such a bright light. Lily turns 6 today and this fiery, literal, stubborn, smart child is going to kick some serious ass in life someday. #strongwilledchild #goldenbirthday #futurepresident #futurejudgejudy

Updating my Dr B baby must have list. What am I missing I skip the big items like car seats and strollers as there are smarter experts are those items. If you need recs let me know and I’ll point you in the right direction. Post your favorite on the list or off the list. Tag a pregnant mom as you know how hard it was to decide on all these things when you were expecting.

Yes they are safe But not really accurate For visits I will be using an ear thermometer that is cleaned after each use. I recommend that you as parents for home use either use an ear (tympanic) thermometer or a regular old school one for under the tongue or arm. The touch-less ones just aren’t accurate enough. I’m also not a huge fan of the forehead swiping ones as they aren’t as accurate either. Remember if you are sick with fever or cold symptoms stay home.

Sometimes I need to practice what I preach I admit that I am the worst when it comes to standing and eating. Immediately before this pic I reminded my kids to sit down if eating and then here I am standing. Please practice what you preach to your kids. Since this pic I have been sitting down for morning coffee and dinner and I’m going to be honest I see a difference in myself. It’s like sitting forces us to relax. Plus Lily finds a way to come sit on my lap and I it. She’s always been the can I have some of your food kid even though it’s always the same food . So remember to slow down and listen to what we tell our kids to do as they are sponges and always watching/listening. Healthy living for the entire family is important.

Thanks guys for all the love and support I’ve received these past fews weeks. I learn so much everyday. I might be able to start 6 offices after this is all done. As the picture says I appreciate the patience you are all showing me with all the emails/texts and forms. But as I keep telling myself we only have to do this once and once everyone is set up then we just cruise and grow our relationship! But I have serious hand cramps from all the data entry

Please consider giving back to our community this season. We always adopt a family and it always puts things in perspective for me and my girls when the kids ask for new shoes or socks. This may be the one time I take the girls to the store to shop as it’s important for them to help others and give. Plus I know they will also pick a special fun something for the kids we adopt.
