An asphalt plant is proposed for the Keswick area. Crystal Creek Aggregate currently has a quarry off of Iron Mountain Road and they have filed paperwork with the Shasta County Department of Resource Management that would expand the operation to include an asphalt plant and concrete recycle area. Opponents say the permit would allow more than a thousand trucks a day in and out of the plant. The location is in the heart of the Carr Fire burn area, and some neighbors say there's not enough trees and brush remaining to buffer them from the dust and fumes and noise of the operation. The deadline for comments on the draft EIR is March 22nd. A public scoping meeting is today (tue) at 9am. Here's the link: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/806906845
