Commemoration in Busan.

Cultural tradition and history are juxtaposed this year as Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Korean Armed Forces Day fell on a same day. We wish you warmth, happiness, and health. We also give thanks to all who have served and continue to serve that we are secure and safe.

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the beginning of Korean War. As we remember and honor the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who fought to save democracy and freedom in Korea, it saddens us to know that technically the war is still ongoing. As the pendulum of history oscillates between hope and despair over Korean peninsula, we take a stand on the side of hope. We hope for Peace. We hope for a peaceful reunification. We hope for freedom for all Koreans.

June 6th was Korea's Memorial Day. We remember and honor the sacrifice and courage of all who fought to restore, protect and preserve life, liberty and democratic ideals in Korea.
