Keeping those lines tight! Here's an action shot of one of the many techniques the crews have to ensure quality work. While installing single-ply, they secure one end before rolling out the material. At that point, they will pull the other end tight while other crew members walk along the material, kicking the ground to continue pulling it towards the unsecured end. This in turn keeps the material snug against the underlying insulation board while keeping it tight from end-to-end. #teamwork

Only a few weeks ago, being up on the roof looked like this. Orange haze, smoke filled skies and ash raining down. We are grateful to be through this, and hope it continues to end, but we do know that the remnants of wildfires can cause damage to roofs all around! Last week, some of our team along with some great representatives of general contractors we work with were able to take a trip up to Gustavus, Alaska. If you can't tell, it was a great time for everyone, and PLENTY of fish were caught. In addition to their great fishing talent we'd like to recognize Flint Builders, Inc., DesCor Builders, Roebbelen Contracting, Inc., Fullmer Construction, and Millie and Severson for all of the outstanding projects they've led and allowed us to work with them on.

OSHA's National Safety Stand-Down week is this week until the 18th! Safety is Kodiak's #1 priority so we're all about raising awareness about the hazards of falls in construction. What you see here is known as "stretch and flex" which is something our teams do every morning before getting up on a roof. This helps warm up muscles, improve elasticity, and ultimately keep individuals safer while they meet the physical demands in construction. #StandDown4Safety (Photos were taken 02/21/20 at our shop during our safety stand-down event.)

Nearly 3,000 lives were lost on this day 19 years ago. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who suffered, who helped save those they could, and to those who live today to tell the story. The twin towers stood at 110 stories each, equaling almost 10 million square feet of office space for nearly 35,000 people and 430 companies. These two buildings are now represented by 88, 7,000-watt xenon lightbulbs that reach 4-miles into the sky, and can be viewed from a 60-mile radius around lower Manhattan by millions of people. Let us stand together to keep building this country for the better and always remember those whose lives were lost doing so.
