Here's Mr. B's science class literally at work. Alden tries to lift a cast iron engine block. He then uses the mechanical advantage provided by a block and tackle pulley system.

http://www.printmuseum.org/ Last Friday, we headed north to the International Printing Museum. What a great place to go to step back in time. Our gallery tour guide, Walt Ratcliff, was a walking encyclopedia! He invited Alden to become a "Devil's Apprentice." (pictured here) We saw working machinery from as early as the Gutenberg Press up through the huge offset printer used at the L.A. Times. Go see for yourself. It's worth the drive to Carson.

Traveling Scientist, Ms. Foster from the Orange County Department of Education's "Inside the Outdoors" program, presented an interactive workshop to heighten students' awareness on waste management. Ms. Foster reinforced the school's mantra REDUCE-REUSE-REPURPOSE-RECYCLE with eye-opening facts and suggestions on how to go about making life-style changes.

Happy New Year! Mr. B uploaded the 2014 Holiday Edition of The Echo to our YouTube channel. The Echo is a combination news magazine, drama, comedy, and satire. It shows what middle and grade school students are capable of producing when given the tools and a commitment to excellence. In addition to catchy commercials, this year's special features include a remake of Rod Serling's "The Night of the Meek" and introduces "Outback with Aaron." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjwbxqXbeYk
