When the Kiwanis International float makes its way down Colorado Boulevard in the 2022 Rose Parade on Saturday, look for the more than 5,000 roses and 4,500 dai...sies affixed to the Dream to Achieve float. Adding to the color and texture are beans, whole and ground split peas, onion seed, ground white rice, yellow strawflower, redwood bark, eucalyptus leaves, limes and seaweed. We had holiday music playing and many items to give out.Thank you #raklife for the donation which we used to purchased Jersey Mike’s . Over the Thanksgiving Week we partnered with Lutheran Social Services - Ventura County, Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks, and the Kiwanis K-Kids in Thousand Oaks t...o help provide warm and fuzzy socks as well as sanitizing wipes for our needy population in the area. This happened in addition to our Food Drive with Grassroots Yoga for FoodShare of Ventura County. This Wednesday morning meeting speaker was Charlotte Burrows from the Thousand Oaks Library. I have been a resident of Thousand Oaks for over 40 years and let my library card lapse. Letters to Santa for Macy’s Make-a-Wish was a success! Weathersfield turned in 757 letters along with other area schools, Builders Club, TOHS and WHS Key Club, Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks and Macy’s staff totaling 5,850! Macy’s gives $2 per letter. Thousand Oaks Kiwanians prepare and deliver another 70 meals on March 12 for Harbor House to feed the homeless and food insecure in the community.

President Craig Burns, with able assistance from Sherrill Hyink, Arnie The Runner Rudman, Gloria Dyok, and Cristy Warner, presented a BIG RED check for $725 to Senior Concerns President Andrea Gallagher, representing Love Run pledges by members for Arnie that were collected by our Foundation.

Our club members volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels with Senior Concerns to homeboynd seniors in the Conejo Valley at least 3 days per week. However, Senior Concerns is in need of volunteer drivers to pick up meals Monday - Friday at 11:30 a.m. and Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 3:00 p.m. You can sign up for just one day, or as many days as you like. This is also a recurring position, so Senior Concerns will need you to commit to delivering meals on a weekly basis.... By just spending 60-90 minutes on one of these routes, you are making an immense impact in the lives of seniors in our community. At our weekly breakfast, we heard from Captain Don Aguilar from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office about local demonstrations and safety precautions being taken as a result of COVID-19. Just one week later, we were honored to host Thousand Oaks Mayor Al Adam and hear about local business impacts, as well as the City’s response to the pandemic. And just this morning we presented scholarships to 9 deserving high school seniors!
