Looking forward to our September fundraising campaign with Long Beach Gives.
Honoring a Kiwanian who embodied the spirit of community service, Candace Yamagawa!
Thank you to our President Elect, Maria Elena Rincon, for delivering five more Chromebooks to the Century Villages at Cabrillo today! Through all this pandemic, we continue to serve where we can. Hail Kiwanis!
Kiwanis Club of Long Beach has been busy during the pandemic, including distributing Chromebooks, headsets, mice and carrying cases today to five wonderful students from Villages at Cabrillo, who now have a little more support to further their education.
Thank you to Human I-T for their generous donation of 7 chromebooks to our Kiwanis Club. The Kiwanis Club of Long Beach is supporting schools and non-profits that need assistance during the pandemic to assist young children and young adults to support their education from home.
President Elect, Maria Elena Rincon and several Kiwanis Club Members provided chromebooks, headphones and mice to some very happy students of the Children's Bureau of Long Beach. By providing this computer equipment, students will be able to keep the equipment to use to further their education.
Kiwanis Club of Long Beach has been busy during the pandemic helping one elementary school by donating 500 headphones and 600 mice to assist in the home schooling for students at Nieto-Herrera Elementary. Principal Claire Fieri requested the computer headphones and mice to assist children in using their chromebooks donated by Long Beach Unified.
What does the word Kiwanis mean? It is derived from an Otchipew American Indian expression Nunc Kee-Wanis which according to a translator can mean We trade, or We share our talents, We make a noise, or We meet. The founders of Kiwanis translated it as We build and that became their motto until 2005 when they changed it to Serving the children of the world.
Kiwanis Club of Long Beach supports the Historical Society!
The Kiwanis Club of Long Beach supported the Long Beach Historical Society's Historical Cemetery tour again October 26, by loaning them all of our shade canopies. This event is a major fundraiser for the maintenance of the Sunnyside and Municipal Cemeteries on the corner of Willow and Orange.

Fantastic Heart of a Hero Awards ceremony. A great way to celebrate two Long Beach Hero’s; Firefighter James Fraser and Police Officer Scott Lasch. Also a great way to honor 100 years Kiwanis Club Service to the children and city.
President Patricia Paris Appleby spoke in front of City Council tonight, sharing about our Heart of a Hero event on Sept 19 at the Museum if Latin American Art, that will raise funds for a local fire safety unit that will provide free safety education for all LBUSD children. If you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, go to https://www.longbeachkiwanis.org today.
