March 7, 2021 A Reminder About Policies and COVID-19 Work-Site Plan & Protocol As state and local officials begin to slowly lift COVID-19 restrictions, I wanted to take the opportunity to once again share my policies and COVID-19 Work-Site Plan & Protocol, which are based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, California Department of Public Health, California for All (covid19.ca.gov), State of California Cal/OSHA Department of Industrial Relations, ...Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards, and Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals. kimpon.massagetherapy.com/policies kimpon.massagetherapy.com/covid19-worksite-plan-protocol I am hopeful that vaccinations will bring this pandemic to an end soon; however, we are not there yet. Thus, I will NOT be making any changes to my policies, plan & protocol at this time. I will continue to remain open for all scheduled sessions with continued proper safety protocols. As of yesterday afternoon, June 17, 2020, the San Mateo County Health Officer has aligned the county's re-opening for personal services with Gov. Newsom's CA State plan. Although, I am now able to re-open as early as tomorrow, June 19, 2020, my PPE items haven't arrived for me to re-open according to the safety guidelines I need to adhere to. I will advise as soon as I am able to begin working with you. After wishful thinking, massage therapy is not part of Stage 2 of the state's re-opening. I am still not allowed to open my practice. The California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC), the organization on that issues my state license, has advised on Saturday, May 30, 2020 that massage therapists are NOT to open in Stage 2. Massage therapists should "wait for direction from California Department of Public Health and local health departments". Please be advised that I will be ca...ncelling all appointments for June 2020. As soon as the stay at home order is lifted, I will resume my practice. Miss you all. Update: May 22, 2020 As of right now, CA Governor Gavin Newsom's stay at home order is still in effect. I am not allowed to open my practice. The California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC), the agency that issues my state license, has advised that "the statewide stay at home order remains in place, and massage has NOT been generally authorized to occur, except for one very narrow exception (those working directly for physicians or chiropractors and providing deferred or prev...entive health care services). The Governor's Stay at Home Order is statewide, and must be complied with. Cities and counties don't have the legal authority to waive the State's stricter requirements. As of today (May 21, 2020), no county has been granted variance that allows for higher risk workplaces to reopen. Yesterday, April 28, 2020, CA Gov. Newsom gave an update on the plan to reopen the state. Looks as if I fall into Phase 3, which he estimates is "months, not weeks away." This means that I will continue to remain closed. As decisions can change, I will continue to monitor the situation on a weekly basis.
