IT'S JUNE! Summer is here! Ice cream, sodas, Popsicles, and other frozen sweets and cold drinks are going to be highly consumed. One of the ways you can get rid of some of the sugars left behind after you have one of these drinks or sweets, is by drinking water.

FLOSSING = YOUR BEST DEFENSE Encourage your children to floss every day! Flossing protects their overall health, and is their best defense against gum disease!

THREE MONTH RULE Remember to switch out your toothbrush every 3 months or sooner if it starts to fray! Most dentists agree you should change your toothbrush every three months. Studies show that after three months of normal wear and tear, toothbrushes are much less effective at removing plaque from teeth and gums compared to new ones. The bristles break down and loose their effectiveness in getting to all those tricky corners around your teeth.

Vitamin C is good for your teeth and gums! Encourage your kids to eat more foods packed with vitamin C, like oranges and other citrus fruits.

AVOIDING BOTTLEROT Attention parents! Bottle rot is preventable! You should avoid putting your children to bed with bottles, and help keep your kids' mouths clean. If a child is put to sleep with a bottle, there is a higher chance the child is going to have cavities.

WATER IS BEST! March is Nutrition Month! Remind your patients to drink more water. Water washes away food debris and cleans between teeth!
