FUZZ FOR FUNDS FUNDRAISER Our annual fuzzy-faced-fundraiser wrapped up at the end of December, and we were able to raise $4,480 for the Bakersfield Salvatio...n Army! To raise these funds, officers who wanted to continue growing their facial hair from "Movember" through the end of the year had to purchase "beard licenses" for $25 each. If the ladies of the department caught them without their license, they were "fined" for the violation of Bearding Without a License. The public could also get involved by donating money to vote for their choices of Best Beard and Worst Beard. It was a pleasure to be able to donate to a local cause that helps so many in our community (and the guys enjoyed not shaving for a bit)! This event would not be possible without the assistance of the Kern County 999 Foundation. Thank you for your support and partnership!!! Dear Kern County 999 Foundation Dedicated Supporters, Today, Saturday, October 3, 2020, would have been our 14th Annual 'Officer Down Ride.' However, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control and the following increased and overwhelming concerns over the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. That is to cancel this year's event. The safety of our supporters must always come first. As a nonprofit orga...nization, we are very disappointed that we cannot hold our annual fundraising event this year. Still, we know it's the right decision based on the information we have today moving forward. We all know at some point, the COVID-19 virus concerns will pass, and we look forward to next year's 15th-anniversary event, which will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021. We ask our supporters to be vigilant within our communities and continue to support our local law enforcement as our mission has not changed. As a foundation, we will continue to follow through with our mission to assist the families of Kern County Peace Officers' who have died or been injured in the line of duty since 2007. Again, thank you for your continued support during this challenging time for the Kern County 999 Foundation and our community. See more

Kern County 999 Foundation 22.08.2020

Today, is the 14th Anniversary of the tragic death of Deputy William Joe Hudnall. The Kern County 999 Foundation was formed after the tragic death of Deputy William Joe Hudnall who was killed on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, by Daniel Willsey, 46, of Montrose, California, who was under the influence of a controlled substance. In response to Hudnall’s untimely death, several officers came together and organized a fundraiser to benefit his four children. In a period of two ...weeks, the event received donations totaling close to $17,000 for the Hudnall family. Out of this emotional and tragic event, the Kern County Officer Down Support Ride was formed. There have been over 50 officers and department volunteers killed in the line of duty in Kern County over the years. Our organization was formed to honor those fallen heroes and financially help their survivors. The Board of Directors and Ride organizers are full time or retired law enforcement officers in Kern County. The Kern County 999 Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization assisting the families of Kern County Peace Officers who have died in the line of duty since 2007. WE WILL NEVER FORGET - RIP SIR

Happy Thanksgiving from the #KernCounty999Foundation Thanksgiving is the perfect day to offer unique words of gratefulness, but we can be thankful every day. Focusing on the blessings in our lives, whether they be people, situations, or physical things, leads us to become more grateful, happy people; our consciousness of others grows and flowers into empathy, compassion, and consideration. What a good feeling to learn, years later, of a positive impression you made in someone’s life and to be thanked for itthis is gratefulness come full-circle. No matter our location, circumstance, or station in life, let us be thankful for all. We wish you and your families a warm, happy and memorable Thanksgiving. #Thanksgiving2019

Funeral services for Bakersfield Police Detective Kevin Hock #799 at Riverlakes Community Church.

Kern County 999 Foundation 31.05.2019

It is with great sorrow that we share the loss of Detective Kevin Hock. Kevin’s interest in law enforcement started in 1980 as a Police Explorer with our department. He continued his service at the Bakersfield Police Department as a Reserve Officer in 1990, and in 1993 was hired as a Transportation Officer. In 1995, Kevin was hired as a Police Officer and promoted to the rank of both Senior Officer and Detective in 2014. He held this rank until the time of his passing. In hi...s years of service, he was assigned to a variety of assignments including Patrol, Special Enforcement Unit, Financial Crimes, Narcotics, Burglary, Street Crimes, Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, and the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force. Kevin was a seasoned officer who worked in several different capacities, but was extremely passionate about his roles as a K9 handler, Rangemaster, Physical Training instructor for the academy, and as a SWAT team member. He was highly committed and passionate about each of these roles. Kevin contributed to the instillation of safety standards and practices within our department. His legacy lies in the fact that he helped cultivate highly skilled police officers who continue serving and protecting our community. Kevin leaves behind his wife, son, family, and many friends who love him like family. He is sorely missed, but we are forever grateful for his commitment, which contributed to the overall safety of our community. Thank you Patti and Jared for sharing and allowing Kevin to be ‘ours’. Funeral services for Detective Kevin Hock are scheduled for Tuesday September 3, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at Riverlakes Community Church, located at 4301 Calloway Drive. See more

Sheriff Youngblood is correct when he said he wants to be as transparent as possible and to have the 911 recording and bodycam footage out to the public as soon as possible - shows just that. In this case less than 48-hours! The injured Deputy Sheriff is recovering.

Our prayers are with the Deputy Sheriff and a speedy recovery.
