RESEARCH shows that 4-H’ers make positive contributions to their communities. This April, as part of True Leaders in Service and National Volunteer Appreciation Month, 4-H’ers across the nation pledged their hands to larger service leading positive change to empower their peers and their communities. April 20, 2021 The Kern County Farm Bureau is pleased to offer two - $2000 scholarships to Kern County high school seniors or college freshmen, sophomores or juniors who plan to study or are currently pursuing an agriculture, trade school, or agriculture-related major. Students majoring in veterinary studies will only be considered if their concentration is in large animal husbandry. Below is the 2020 2021 Scholarship Application.... Scholarship winners will be announced in May. Proof of college enrollment is due to the Kern County Farm Bureau via email at [email protected] by September 30, 2020. In response to the unfortunate cancellation the 2020 National 4-H Conference. The National 4-H Conference staff is offering a Virtual Town Hall Tuesday, November 10th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm EST (4:00-6:30 PST.) It is open to all interested 4-H members (High School age) volunteers and staff. Please share this information with any teens and 4-H adult volunteers who serve in leadership roles or who are active in civic engagement projects of any type they may also be interested... in participating in the event. About the event: The program will include opening activities participates will be able to facilitate with their local clubs and projects. A variety of topics about the challenges youth are facing today and ideas for the future will be discussed. Participants will be able to offer input to help 4-H know about what youth need and their ideas for the future. There will be a brief presentation on ways you can move forward in these times and the Town Hall will conclude with a series of interactive reflection activities that participates will engage in and then later use in their 4-H activities.
