Today is #GivingTuesday! Kern County Basque Club would love your support! Thank you for considering a donation to the Kern County Basque Club. These donations will help to sustain the monthly operations of our club. To us, you are the heroes, and we Thank YOU for helping us meet the challenges of this moment so that we can continue to provide a place to gather and celebrate our Basque culture. We have an aggressive goal of $100,000 to replenish our anticipated losses, but we... are confident with all the kind donations we will be able to come close to meeting this goal. The KCBC has been encouraged and humbled by the outpour of support from our members and friends in the community, especially during this great time of uncertainty. Words cannot describe the gratitude we feel for all of youwe thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are working hard to ensure the drive-thru goes as smooth as possible. We wanted to share some important details with you! Date: Today Time: 4-7pm please arrive at the time you requested on your food order Location: Kern County Basque Club 2301 South Union Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93307. Remember, this will not take place at the Kern County Fair. Our clubhouse is south of the Kern County Fairgrounds on Union Avenue.... Entrance All vehicles will enter through the first gate when travelling south on Union Avenue past Planz Road. We sincerely ask those of you travelling north on Union Avenue to please make a U-turn at Planz Road vs. turning left in front of the KCBC to help with traffic flow. When you enter the parking lot, the route will take you along our fence line. If there’s a long line of cars, please be patient and know that we will do our best to keep the line moving quickly. While in line, please provide the KCBC volunteer the first and last name you used when placing your order. Please don’t be offended if we can’t stop and visit with you. We would love to talk to thank you for supporting us but we need to stay focused on getting all the orders out as efficiently as possible. Did you order beans? If so, for your safety, our Basque beans will be packaged cold. You will need to heat them up before eating them. If you ordered wine, that will have to be placed in your back trunk. Once you receive your order, please exit the parking lot using the double gates. Exit quickly and safely please do not stop to visit and block traffic flow so that we don’t have an unnecessary traffic jam at the exit. See more

Hello everyone. Yesterday would have been our annual basque picnic. We sure missed all the familiar faces, watching the growing traditions, the food, the socializing, and the CULTURE..... Post a picture of how you celebrated the basque picnic, quarantine style. We would love to see them!

Sad times......

Kern County Basque Club 04.07.2020

REMINDER: Dear Members and Friends, Remember last year’s Basque Festivalrain and cold temperatures made us move our evening dance inside the clubhouse? Who would have ever thought that it could be any worse than that? Wellhere we are in 2020social distancing, businesses and restaurants are closed, schools cancelled for the year and people are suffering, scared and worried.... Under these circumstances and with the guidance of the Kern County Public Health Department, we regret to inform you that the Kern County Basque Club’s 48th Annual Basque Festival on Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-24, 2020) will be cancelled. We believe this is the right decision in order to keep our members and friends as safe and healthy as possible. What would the picnic be if we couldn’t give our customary two cheek kiss, fight the crowds for our drinks, lamb chops and lukainkas, gather to worship, watch our Basque dancers and Klika on the packed handball court, and avoid all the toe stepping during the evening dance. We want to thank everyone who have generously supported our annual celebration our dancers, dance teachers, klika, choir, pelotaris, mus players, volunteers and our financial supporters. We look forward to making the 2021 Basque Festival, another fun and memorable event. Stay safe, healthy and proud! #basquestrong KCBC Board of Directors
