This Sunday we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is risen! Jesus is alive! On that first Easter Sunday, three women who loved and followed Jesus went to the tomb to finish burying him. Instead, they found it empty. In their shock and fear they faced an impossibility, that their Lord was alive. Sometimes we are afraid to hope. Disappointment teaches us to expect the worst. But God is a God of resurrection. Jesus rose from the grave. And we can live even now with an almost absurd hope, because he who rose from the grave is alive to save us.

God's law is more than a list of do's and don'ts. The purpose of those laws is authentic, loving relationships between God and people. We often forget this and tunnel-vision on the external aspects of religion. But true religion, the kind that pleases God, begins in the heart.

As Christians, we have the privilege of rejoicing in Jesus Christ, not just sometimes, but all the time; not just in some circumstances, but in all circumstances. Activate the joy of the Lord in your own life and experience its transformative power.
