To our KDA families. Tomorrow is a day when we typically stop and think about all of the things we are thankful for. On this day, and every day, we think about how thankful we are you and your family are a part of our KDA family. This year has brought unimaginable challenges for all of us, but look at how much we have accomplished. We have tackled change of routines, implemented telehealth, and adopted and integrated a different kind of in-person therapy together, and it’s b...een successful because of you. We appreciate all parents, grandparents, and caregivers who are putting in the extra time and energy every day to help your child continue to grow and learn in a world of uncertainty. And, we want to say Thank You!. It is your support and encouragement that has made it possible for KDA to continue to provide the therapy interventions we do for your child. Congratulations Miss. Cindy Miss Cindy is our Supervising Speech Language Pathologist! She is very calm, compassionate, caring, and collected. She recently jumped into a HUGE role as a supervising SLP and has been mentoring our clinical fellows and SLPAs. To say she is doing a great job is an understatement. A HUGE thank you to @freedomconcepts for loaning us their DCP12 adaptive bike and chill out chair, AND for their very helpful in-service today! Our therapists have been getting a lot of use out of the DCP12 bike, particularly to help increase circulation and improve GI function, strength, range of motion, coordination, cognitive function, and socialization! Here is a five star google review from one of our parents. Not only is this a proud mom moment for this parent, but it is a VERY proud moment for Ms. Eryn and all other individuals involved in this child’s care! If I could I would give 10 stars. I first want to give my experience regarding the speech services we receive: My son has been severely delayed in his speech. I had the Regional center complete an assessment and they determined that at 13 months old h...e was only speaking at a 6 month level. They completed the referral to Kara Dodds & Associates. Because of Covid-19 we started with tele-health appointments via phone until we were able to complete in session services. The therapist that was assigned to us at this time was very patient with my then 13 month year old and did not only help start to teach my son sign language but also took the time to teach me as well. We were off to a great start. Once offices re opened and we were able to move to in office appointments, my son was assigned to a new therapist. (I also forgot to mention above that my son suffers from severe separation anxiety from me). The first appointment we met our new therapist Eryn and it was an experience. My son was not happy to leave my sight and it took some time to get him to go back to the room. By week 3, not only was my son excited to go to his appointment with Ms. Eryn, but I would have to stop him from taking off and running straight to her room. (Proud Mom Moment). Even though we still have a long way to go with my sons speech I can say that thanks to Kara Dodds and Associates, we have learned how to communicate with each other. Secondly: The front desk ladies have always been so on top of it when needing to re arrange his appointments to accommodate my work schedule and have made sure to keep in touch with me regarding any updates. Meet Mrs. Amanda! Amanda recently joined our team as a SLPA! She is a great addition to our team and has an extremely calming and comforting presence. She is a San Diego native who has always known she wanted to work with children in order to make a positive impact on their lives. She used to work as a Kindergarten teacher and has volunteer experience in programs like a therapeutic horseback riding program and an after school reading program. As a SLPA she has a special lov...e for building relationships with her clients and their families. She holds high the importance of creating a calm and fun environment. In her free time she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their dog. She also enjoys spending time with family, hiking, horseback riding, and exploring the landscapes around her home in Ramona Hills!
