Hello from Dubai everyone! Thank you to all who have continued to follow this page and to check in periodically. It means a lot to me. I have been living and wo...rking in Dubai for the past 2 years and what an amazing experience it has been! This is a fantastic city and I love living here though I miss the mountains and familiar faces of my life in Lake County. I have grown and learned a lot as a ballet teacher here with young students from all over the world. With the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic I have had to adapt yet again learning to teach online. I am now available via Zoom for private and semi-private coaching in ballet, conditioning, and flexibility for dancers age 8 and older. I still have my certification to teach the American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum and I have been teaching the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus (from London’s Royal Ballet) here at Melodica Music and Dance Institute in Dubai the students I have presented for exams have all passed with Distinction or with Merit. I have also picked up a fantastic technique and strength conditioning program for dancers called Progressing Ballet Technique. It is applicable not just to ballet dancers but also to Contemporary and Jazz dancers as well. This fall I will be adding a certification from Alixa Flexibility. Since I am half a world away, hours are limited to mornings in Lake County from 10:30am-12:30 pm and evenings from 5pm-9pm. Cost is $30 per hour. Please send a pm to my personal page (Shannon Malone) for more info, to discuss your personal goals, and to secure a spot. Thanks again for sticking with me!

LCSoPA is proud to add the Acrobatic Arts acrobatic dance syllabus to its dance curriculum beginning January 2016! Acrobatic Dance, or acro as it is commonly referred to by dancers and dance professionals, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Often defined by uniq...ue choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, lines and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context. Acro has its roots in traditional Chinese dance later gaining popularity on the Vaudeville stage. Acro has gained popularity with the widespread success of Cirque du Soleil's contemporary circus productions. Mainstream media including television programs like ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ have further fueled its demand in dance studios. Acro is an especially challenging style for dancers to master as training in both dance and acrobatic elements is required. Acro technique includes balancing, limbering, tumbling and partnering, based in flexibility, contortion and strength. The Acrobatic Arts program provides easy progressions for dancers to follow providing step by step instructions for every level. Acrobatic Arts starts at the very beginning, as students learn what they need to know about proper placement and technique they will have the building blocks to progress safely and quickly from one level to the next. Acrobatic Arts Teacher Training and Certification courses provide extensive, hands-on training in spotting and progression so teachers are knowledgeable and confidently prepared to teach acro dance. Annual Acrobatic Arts Exams, as well as regular skills testing throughout the year allow students and instructors to observe the exciting progress of building strength, skill, and artistry in class and in performance. Dancers who train through Acrobatic Arts have balanced development, are stronger, more flexible, and are fearless! Dancers who train within the Acrobatic Arts program develop more skills, have fewer accidents, and are less likely to develop chronic injuries. Classes are available for ages 4 and up. Level 1 requires concurrent registration in an equivalent ballet or jazz technique class and proficiency in a few basic flexibility and strength skills. No requirements or prerequisites for Primary level. Shannon Malone, Certified Instructor American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum, PrePrimary - Level 3 Acrobatic Arts, Primary - Level
