A few kind words from our amazing client who recently came in. I brought Kainah in this morning (Wednesday) for ear pain and itchy skin, I was sent home with a calming shampoo, paw wipes and fish oil (along with getting an anti-inflammatory shot and ear meds in office). I just wanted to send a picture of her relaxing harder than she has in probably a month after getting her calming shampoo bath. I can’t even tell you how thankful I am for the effort and love you all put in... to treating and accommodating your pet patients and their owners. You make each visit as stress free as possible for her and myself. You’re all such a blessing and I hope you’re told that frequently! Thank you so much for the kind words and continued support and trust in our small business! - MVC

In honor, and out of respect to all who have served our country and fought for our freedoms, including Naval Lt. Robert H. Moore, we will humbly be closed May 25th to observe Memorial Day, 2020. Dr. Moore’s father, pictured below with her late mother, instilled integrity, honesty and respect into all that Dr. Moore does. A proud navy brat and daughter, Dr. Moore and everyone at Moore Veterinary Care would like to thank all service men and women who have served our country. We will open at our normal hours (9am-5pm) on Tuesday.

Just like we brush our teeth, dental hygiene is important for a happy healthy pet’s life. Oravet chews and other dental hygiene products can help prevent your pet’s teeth from building up tartar and plague; however, they will still need dental cleanings like we do! We would be happy to do an oral assessment to better evaluate your pet’s teeth. Please make an appointment to get your pet’s teeth looked at today!

Sometimes we have to send a friendly reminder with our patients, to make sure their sibling don’t bite or try to chew on each other. Please make sure to be aware of the surroundings of your fur babies and shelled friends..

American Veterinary Medical Association offers some tips on protecting your pets- "No evidence has been generated suggesting that dogs and cats can get sick from exposure to SARS-CoV-2 or transmit the virus. Nonetheless, the AVMA urges caution and says anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19, the infection caused by the virus, should limit contact with animals and have another member of the household feed, exercise and play with pets; wear a medical mask around service animals; avoid sharing share food with pets; avoid face-to-face contact and hugs; and wash hands before and after any contact with pets."

Is my dog at risk for catching Coronavirus? There has been a case of a Pomeranian in Hong Kong testing for a weak positive. It is owned by a person who contracted the virus. The World Health Organization reports that as of now, there is no evidence that a dog, cat or any pet can transmit COVID-19. Can my dog spread Coronavirus to humans? ... If you’re infected, you can transfer the virus to your dog’s fur if you are near them. Other people may be exposed to the virus if they pet a dog that’s been touched by someone affected by the virus. However, this is not a common way for the virus to spread. You should wash your hands thoroughly before and after petting any dogs. Do not pet dogs you do not know. Should I stock up on dog food and medicine for my dog? In case you have to quarantine yourself, you should prepare by buying anywhere from two weeks to a month’s supply of extra dog food and stocking up on any medicine your dog needs for the same amount of time. Call your veterinarian to discuss if a physical exam or blood work is required before a medication can be refilled. Even if you don’t have to go into quarantine, supply may be limited due to other pet owners preparing. What other precautions should I take against Coronavirus with my dog? Follow all the CDC guidelines for yourself, because you are much more likely to bring COVID-19 into your home than your pet is. Start making a care plan for your pet with friends and family in case you become infected. Do not abandon your dog because of COVID-19 concerns. Avoid high-traffic areas like dog parks where social distancing is not possible. Using paw wipes after they come in from outside is a good idea to halt the spread of germs.

To our Clients; We here at Moore Veterinary Care want to ensure our clients that we are doing out part to having a safe and clean environment. If you have any upcoming appointments with us, we request that you not bring additional guests as we wish to keep foot traffic to a minimum. If you are feeling the least bit sick, please contact the clinic for rescheduling. We want to keep our clients, patients and staff safe through this stressful time. In light of the current coronav...irus (COVID-19) situation, we are stepping up our care as much as possible to exceed the most stringent guidelines. This includes ‘social distancing’ to help ensure the well-being of your clients and our staff. -With this in mind, we have introduced a process where pet owners can feel safe in their cars, while we care for their pets. Here’s how it works... *From 9:00am - 5:00pm (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) and 9:00am - 12:00pm (Wednesday and Thursday) when your client arrives to Moore Vet Care, they can call us from the car informing us that they have arrived. *For appointments: We will ask your client to wait in their car for an assistant. Following the doctor’s examination, they will either be contacted by phone to consult with the doctor or directed to a freshly sanitized consultation room. *For emergencies: We will escort the pet owner to an assigned area for triage, and to collect pertinent information from the pet owner, after which the pet owner will be asked to return to their car to minimize contact. *For pick-up appointments: A doctor’s assistant will come out to the vehicle with the patient, medications, and discharge instructions. If discharge instructions are not available, we will inform the pet owner that we will email them as soon as possible, and/or arrange a phone discharge appointment with the doctor. *For medication pick-up/refill: A doctor’s assistant will come out to the vehicle with medications and instructions.
