#25DaysOfGratitude Day 4: Lockdown skills!! Did you acquire any new skills or discover any hidden talents during lockdown? You know what they say necessity is the mother of all invention. Well, it was necessary for this mother to conjure rabbits out of a hat throughout lockdown. And I must say, I am pretty pleased with some of the results I discovered a love of baking I discovered I actually enjoy rising before the sun And I discovered I love cutting my boys’ hair... Li’l man’s hasn’t had a haircut in a couple weeks, but he was looking so cute this morning that I had to snap a pic or two- and marvel at the fact that I don’t completely butcher his hair when he lets me cut it. Lol. What are the lockdown skills you’re #grateful to have in your toolbox?

#25DaysOfGratitude Day 1: I’m grateful for my daily meditation practice. My meditation this AM marked 365 consecutive days of meditation on the Insight Timer app! I have been using and recommending @insighttimer for years now. But the slower AM pace that my fam and I had during lockdown finally opened up the time and space to make it a consistent, daily (no exceptions) habit. Granted, it may have looked slightly different from day to day. Most days, I used the timer for my ...AM pranayama. Some days, it was a guided meditation. Others, it was a sleep meditation at bedtime with my boys or yoga nidra. One hundred twenty days were part of 40-day sadhana practices In the end, I showed up every day for that, I am grateful. And I am grateful that this year culminated with me finally posting several (long-promised) guided meditations of my own to Insight Timer!!! Another rainy/cloudy day yoga sesh with my best little yoga buddy... Boy! Does this kid love to be upside down!! A very merry unbirthday to you!!! And a belated Mad Hatter Day (10/6)! The unbirthday festivities around here began in earnest last night. My firstborn will turn 12 on 10/11 Our pre-birthday traditions stretch through the whole week, celebrating special "lasts" as an 11yo (like last dinner as an 11yo and so on)... It's a time of transformation, beautiful humans! Things continue to evolve. Are you doing anything in particular to mark the change of seasons? This year, I felt guided to go back to an Ayurvedic "program" I've relied on in the past for season changes- kind of like a pause before proceeding into the new season. It involves a lot of yoga, tea, rest, reading... and time away from gadgets, electronics, and media. What are your favorite Fall traditions? Over the years, I've come to think of the weeks immediately after Labor Day (but before the Fall equinox) as "apple picking season"- when so many of my friends head up to Julian to pick apples and feel the cooler air It's so much fun... and such a short window! We went in the last week of September a few years ago, and the apples were already all picked!! I've seen that some of my favorite orchards are opening for picking this weekend ...(hopefully conditions are still good considering thefires happening down that way), but my boys and I are still staying close to home. So.... we're going apple picking in our Story Time Yoga adventure this Mamaste Thursday!
