Hello Friends of the Washington Theater Last week at city council, Pasadena resident Ralph Frammolino spoke out about his and the community's frustration with the slow progress of the theater. As a result, city manager Steve Mermell promised to put an update in the cities weekly newsletter. It's inspiring to see in the comments on this post that so many have great memories of the Washington Theater from when they were growing up. Let's all keep up the campaign to get this hidden gem revitalized !

Hello Friends of Washington Theater with spring now in the air it looks like some major updates are happening with the warmer weather. After months of being stalled the roof tile is now finally being completed! Also we spotted the frames of the window spaces on the second floor being sanded and painted. If that is not enough good news inside new windows can be seen waiting to be installed! Fingers crossed that the facade can be completed by this summer. Keep checking back here for updates! Hello Friends Friday night 2/24 driving by the theater we couldn't believe it. Three large pieces of furniture discarded in front of the Theater. Now two days later 2/26 they are still there!!!We are in the process of contacting Victor M. Gordo Council Member for District 5 so that this code violation and complaint can be logged against the owners. We understand that the items may have been dumped. But it's unacceptable for them to remain there. It also spotlights the probl...em that the property is failing to be maintained. Thank you to all of you who continue to support the effort to save our historic theater!

Everyone, We've just received notice that the Washington Theater marquee item has been pulled from this evening's Historic Preservation Commission agenda. :( We will share the rescheduled date as soon as we have it. This article appeared yesterday in the Pasadena Now website. It appears there is some confusion about which marquee should be restored. The Current 1937 visible marquee or the one beneath it from 1927. Either way any discussion about restoring the Theater is good news. Walked by the Theater today after the serious downpour this weekend. Sad and frustrated to see the roof repair is still not completed allowing everything to be soaked. A question.. what contractor strips a roof , replaces tar paper but then doesn't finish the job?? The owners told the neighbors and the city that the restoration of the facade would be completed by years end of 2016. So we were patient . Well guess what it's 2017. We will not be patient any longer. It's time to restore the theater and revitalize lake and Washington!! #GOALS2017 #District5 #Pasadena
