Using this skill calms and regulates the autonomic nervous system. This system is responsible for regulating involuntary body functions. Practicing deep breathin...g can support this system in lowering blood pressure and producing a sense of calm. Also slow, deep breaths helps stimulate your parasympathetic system, which is responsible for the body’s rest and digestion responses. When stimulated this system decreases heart rate, respiration and increases digestion.
