Good morning everyone! While we are all digging out, remember to clear space around your heater and dryer exhaust vents. We don’t want cabon monoxide building up in your home.

MONO COUNTY FREE PUBLIC HEALTH TESTING HAS MOVED LOCATIONS TO THE EDISON HALL PARKING AREA AND WILL NOW BE DRIVE-UP TESTING SO YOU CAN STAY IN YOUR CAR, WITH WA...LK-INS ALSO TAKEN. We apologize for the delay getting this to you; it should have gone out yesterday am. The testing has now also moved to a new lab, and we heard today results should be back within 48 hours, which is welcome news. There is another testing date this week, on Thursday, details below. We will also post more on the other free tests in the county, the Baseline/Verily tests, which have moved to the Sierra Star Golf Course, with an appointment, which makes the wait less crazy most days. Both tests are now self administered, meaning you get to stick the swab up your own nose. So much fun for all! START: PUBLIC HEALTH MOVES TO NEW TESTING LOCATION BEGINNING JANUARY 4, 2021 Beginning Monday, January 4, 2021, the Mono County Public Health Department will be conducting COVID-19 testing for Mono County residents at the Mammoth Lakes Foundation (Edison Hall) located at 100 College Parkway. Testing will be scheduled every Monday and Thursday from 11:00am-3:00pm, weather permitting. Participants will be directed to remain in their vehicles for testing, however, walk-up testing is available. Vehicles are required to access the Mammoth Lakes Foundation parking lot from College Parkway, adjacent to Wagon Wheel Road. Testing is OPEN to the public - no appointment necessary. Testing also available for contact tracing referrals and symptomatic clients referred from the 211 Nurse Line. END

This storm is not yet over! While some areas got a break in snow activity during the day today, the main snow band will return across much of western Nevada thi...s evening, with snow likely continuing into the Thursday morning commute. Slow down and use extra caution as roads will be icy or snow covered. For the Sierra, dangerous life-threatening blizzard conditions will continue through Thursday. Avoid heading outdoors or travel on roads (many are already closed) until this storm ends. Graphic contains: 1) Satellite image from Wednesday afternoon with storm system off the Oregon coast and a large area of clouds spreading over California-Nevada. 2) Forecast radar simulation for 8 PM this evening showing widespread area of snow over the eastern Sierra and much of western Nevada.

JLFD would like to report that there are multiple trees down (or are about to come down) around the loop after an extreme wind event this evening. Caltrans District 9 is currently working on Hwy 158 in the road, so please watch out for them. There maybe other downed power lines / hanging trees in the area so please look around your surroundings.
