Some like it clean. Some like it dirty. The first picture shows Armen fishing the Sierras last week, for his 21st year holding his personal best trout he lured out of a beautiful waterfall. The second picture is another regular customer 55 miles west of Dana Point one month ago. The local tuna couldnt resist the yummy flier and taped out at 190. It's with a heavy heart we share that our matriarch and original owner, Itsuko "Itsy" Ota passed away on April 14, 2020 at the age of 94. Itsy worked at the shop until it temporarily closed for the COVID-19 pandemic. She was married to the late Johnny, who together opened Johnny's Sport Shop in 1953. We'll miss her so much, but know she's reunited with Johnny and they're gearing up for opening weekend together (which has now been postponed until May 31 in the Eastern Sierras). Tight lines, Itsy and Johnny! We hope you're all staying safe and well and can't wait to see you when we reopen our doors!
