Time to think about some Valentine candy for those special people in your life. At the same time you can help to fund scholarships for lucky student(s) at Kennedy High School. Use this link: https://www.yumraising.com//rotarycop_rotary_club_o/candy
January is Vocation month for Rotarians around the world. Today we heard from Pocket/Greenhaven Rotarians about their vocations: Nurse/ Hospice Nurse (Ret.), Realator (Cook Realty), Home loans/Real Estate (Orbit Realty), Professor of Speech, Music Professor (Ret.), Development Manager (Solar Cookers International)/Student, Business Performance Advisor (Insperity), Elementary Administrator/Teacher (Ret.). Great meeting!
Celebrating the fifth Thursday of October with a social. Fun evening with members and guests (including our District 5180 AG Megan Ham Ellinghouse and her new husband, Leroy). Another great evening with PGR.
First social event since the pandemic began, took place the beginning of October in Argonaut Park. Jack and his wife, Leimin, provided some music for those gathered. Nice to see each other and meet our President's new bride, Jas, as well as their brand new (dog) addition to the family. Super to be outside on a lovely Sacramento evening.
Today is #WorldPolioDay! Rotary members are showing their support for polio eradictaion by sharing their #MyEndPolio photo. Add your photo to take part:

Great meeting this week with District 5180 Governor (and his Chief of Staff, E;lizabeth Hastey) visiting. DG Brent inducted our new member, Morgan Stonefelt and then shared his vision for District 5180 during this Rotary year 2020-21. Great day! Should be an amazing and unique year!
Just a few more days to participate in the Walk4Literacy. Please join our team (Pocket/Greenhaven Rotary Rock for Books) by donating at Walk4Literacy.org. Thanks for making a difference in the lives of children who live in the Sacramento area who struggle to read. YOU CAN HELP.
Kindness is sharing your bountiful crop with others!
Join in in Random Acts of Kindness next week.
Principal David Van Nattan spoke to PGR this week about the beginning of this school yer at Kennedy High School. He answered our questions about what schedules looked like, how the arts classes were actually teaching art and music. Several classes are still figuring out the best way to teach their subject but the students seem to be settling in to this virtual learning experience. An update on the current construction at Kennedy was also included in out time with Mr. Van Nattan. We all wish the teachers, students and administrators the best this year.
Time to do my jaunt around my neighbor for my part in the "Walk4Literacy Virtual Walk"!. You are welcome to join our team: Pocket/Greenhaven Rotary Rocks for Books. Just go to Walk4Literacy.org to donate for this great cause: Literacy in Sacramento!
