I’ve always been into safe colors for spaces. I feel like even the bold sofa fabrics we pick are still almost safe because everything around them in neutral. Well, this space isn’t as safe and it’s perfect!! Not only does Emilia push these lines for our company, but @reathdesign has also shown us how playfully sophisticated color can be. I don’t talk enough about other rad companies and should. So, here’s to #humblehumpday ? I’m not sure that works...anyone know of a better hashtag that works for this? #color #pattern #playful

This image popped up on @em_henderson blog today. It’s an article about armoiresthe handy pieces that they are. So I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you how this one came to be because most of what we do isn’t only cosmetic. You don’t see huge walk-in closets in older Spanish style homes. The closets have limited space. In so many of our projects, we have to add alternative storage solutions because completely changing the floor plan just isn’t in the budget or ...even possible. This home was no different. It serves the room so well and adds a great amount of storage. It also adds a nice vintage looking piece to mix with the other pieces in the room. I do think they’re under used in other spaces of a home. It’s nice to see so much inspiration on how to use them more. #masterbedroom #armoire #storage

One year ago today was my last day pregnantwhich has absolutely nothing to do with this picture. The past year has moved faster than any other year of my life and all the feelings about time are hitting me like a ton of bricks. I started this business almost 8 years ago. I’ve grown a family, a life, a home, and future in that time. I’m so grateful for what it’s given me and also understand the pressure that’s come along with it. I’m looking back on my projects and this o...ne came to mind. It’s a house in Huntington Harbor that had been lovingly, but wrongfully renovated for many many years. Its beauty, straight lines, and modern style were covered in molding and tile and stone. My biggest job on the project was to peel away the confusion and simplify. This room was once a kitchen, family room, and a hallway. It was dark and had odd passages. We were able to completely open the space up and add huge bi-folding doors to the back. Who wouldn’t want to celebrate 4th here? #4thofjuly #kitchen #huntingtonharbor

These clients are moving in this weekend and I couldn’t be happier for them. Mostly because it’s the date they originally set as the move in date...and it happened. Three months with a full remodel. More often then not, the most important design decisions we make on a project aren’t pretty but rather functional. This master bedroom didn’t have enough closet space and is long and skinny. The door from the hall used to be pushed up against the wall on the left of this image. By moving it farther into the space, we were able to add a dresser and create more of a square space, which is preferred. Now that wall has interest, the space has storage, and the room feels nicer. #construction #sitevisit #function @ Laguna Beach, California

Not everything comes together perfect on every project...even designers make the wrong decisions from time to time, but a good designer is also a good problem solver. That means everything. This project is wrapping up and I can not WAIT to shoot it. It’s giving me all the feels this week to stay motivated. #kitchen
