"Life before recovery was one dominated by drugs and alcohol. My thought processes and actions were consumed with finding ways and means to consume as much as I could, as quickly as I could, with no concern for the consequencesanything that got between me and drugs had to go. That wasn’t a lifeit was a mere existence, motivated entirely by active addiction." In the following article, Olivia Pennelle answers the question of what recovery means for her personally. She also asks this same question to other members in the online recovery community to get their answer to this vast question.

What a day! Alongside Bakersfield American Indian Health, we distributed hundreds of Narcan kits today at our drive thru event! We could not have been happier with the turn out. We sincerely thank each and every Kern County resident that showed up to arm themself with this safe and effective antidote to opioid overdose. This product is easy to use and saves lives. Each member of the BRS Family that worked this event volunteered to be there. This even was one of those moments in which we couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this community.

How many times have you encountered a situation that shook you up completely? When you deal with situations like this it is so important to remember your attitude can determine how the situation can go. You can choose your attitude, let's strive daily to choose a good one.

If you’re interested in FREE Narcan, come drive thru and say hi this Saturday! Ourselves and Bakersfield American Indian Health will also be handing out bags of hygiene products and other necessities. We feel that every household would benefit from having some sort of Narcan/naloxone product on hand. Even if you don’t think you know someone that struggles with addiction, your neighbor or coworker might - and odds are, you probably don’t even know it. Addiction doesn’t discr...iminate between socioeconomic classes and it’s not always apparent. Sometimes it’s as easy as someone having one too many drinks with their opioid pain management prescription. This is an opportunity to obtain free Narcan and a quick training on how to save someone’s life. Take it from us: it’s better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. The following article is about Pamela Dixon, she recovered from a drug addiction and is now helping out amongst her community to help others beat their addictions.

Recovery by definition means to return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength. But aside from that, this word holds much more meaning than that to so many people. Today we ask the question, what does the word recovery mean to you?
