Great news! Katy, one of our teachers of many years is opening up her own swim school (and has recruited some of our other teachers) and promises to continue the Jan Thomas method!!!! In the mean time, we are enjoying retirement, but we sure miss you like crazy!! We miss your little ones, and being a part of their learning. We have so many great memories of the last 59 years, and are so grateful! xoxo

Do you remember when Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs watched you or your child or your grandchild swim across the pool, get a breath, jump off the diving board, and go down the slide? They have been watching Jan Thomas swimmers for decades, and without a doubt the kids’ greatest memories are having the undivided attention of these beautiful Disney Characters! Well, it is time they find a new home! :( They are a vintage collectable, over 40 years old, heavy concrete, and we have... taken immaculate care of them; they do not have even one crack. We have touched them up with paint every other year, and they still look great! We are selling all 8 characters for $950. ( If you share this post, and one of your friends happens to buy them, we will pay you a $50 finder’s fee.) Just know that as its heating up, and summer is approaching, that we have a hole in our heart, as this is will be the first summer in 59 years that we will not be teaching swimming! We miss you already.... However one of our former teachers, Rachel Taylor, has her own swim school in Lemoore. She is well worth the drive if you are serious about getting your child swimming. As many of you know we bought all new aquatic matting for our pool this past summer . We used it for only 10 weeks, and it comes with a 10 year warranty. The pictures below show it by our pool, and show it up close. You will often see it in the high schools at the swim meets. It is top of the line matting for a pool deck. We paid $5.12 a square foot, and we are selling it for $3 a square foot. I will post the sizes we have and if you are interested let us know at 801-918...-6669. This is the day so many of you have been waiting for, Now that the Jan Thomas Swim School is no longer teaching lessons, will any of your former instructors be teaching this summer? First of all, we want to express our deepest gratitude again, for 59 years of success and for the opportunity to love and teach 61,000 beautiful children! It was a method that worked; one that motivated people to travel from all over the world for lessons. Jan knew what she was doing, and was w...illing to pay the price to make it happen! We had hoped that each of our teachers would hop in their own pool and teach lessons and carry on this amazing method; they have such a priceless and unique skill. However, starting your own business is much harder than just teaching a lesson, and many of them are still pursuing their college degrees. Fortunately we do have options for you. One of our former instructors, Rachel Taylor, has established the Rachel Taylor Swim School at her home in nearby Lemoore. With the Jan Thomas Experience as a model, she features one on one lessons, a heated pool and a team of handpicked instructors. She has been teaching for 24 years and her school has been open for 5 years. The pool was recently remodeled and upgraded to maximize instruction results. Each swimmer receives a swim school T-shirt at registration and an Olympic style award medal at the conclusion of their lessons. We realize there are many swim schools in town, but for anyone who has been to our swim school, they know we have our own unique style and standards. We will miss you terribly this summer, and it’s just starting to sink in; usually this time of year we are ordering the medals, tshirts, ducks for the famous ‘duck rides’, and this week we would be sending out 2000 registration cards. Our lives will never be the same.we miss you! At the same time, new and exciting things are happening in our lives. Becky got married after 1000 years of looking for the right man! She will be using her business savvy and insight gained over the years and starting her own podcast (stay tuned), and Jan is basically over the moon with her new son in law! Hello Facebook friends! So many have called and asked who we would recommend for swimming lessons, now that we have retired the swim school. We will be posting names on March 1st, of former teachers who will be teaching this summer. So stay tuned... Also, FYI, Becky Thomas, Jans daughter, has gotten married! After 5 zillion years of looking for her husband, she met the man of her dreams! She is as happy as can be, and feels so blessed and grateful! And Jan is over the moon, her only daughter FINALLY got married!!! :)

Hello Facebook friends! Jan and Becky Thomas have been asked to speak at the Clovis Veterans' Memorial Bld, on Tuesday Sept 12th from 7:00-8:00 pm at the "Lets Talk Clovis" Forum. They will be speaking publicly for the first time since closing the swim school and will share their story, from the founding, the success, and why they decided to close when they did. You are welcome to join, in what is sure to be a great evening, and undoubtedly you will walk away uplifted and inspired. There is no charge for this event, and there is a 'meet and greet' at 6:30. Before the dust settles, or their swim suits dry, Jan and Becky would like to announce their first Seminar! Jan and Becky have experienced the ultimate success in business AND in their personal lives; this did not happen by accident. Today was a special day, as assemblyman Jim Patterson presented Jan with a RESOLUTIOIN from the State of California for her contribution to the community. What a wonderful way to end a 59 year career! We want to thank each of you for bringing all of these beautiful children in to our lives over the years! In many cases, we taught you, your children, and then your grandchildren. Words cannot express how much we appreciate you, and love you! 59 years ago Jan started teach...ing swimming with a strong belief system; she wanted the kids to progress quickly and confidently, and knew that success would lay not only in the method but in the swim instructor. She wanted to make sure that the teacher would be a role model, not just for lessons, but for life. Instead of hiring for skill, she hired for character, and then turned them in to a great swim instructor. She wanted teachers who would teach, love, and inspire the kids to be their best; she always hired the ‘cream of the crop’. If she didn’t feel they were the ‘cream’, she didn’t hire them. She would turn away business before she would put a body in the water just to handle the volume of customers. Though times changed, Jan did not. She always held true to her values and ideals. For this reason, the swim school has made dreams come true. We could not be more grateful or proud of Jan for leading the way, and showing us how to succeed in business and in life. We will never forget you Jan Thomas!! Thank you for all you have done to teach us how to work, how to instruct and love children, and how to live a life of high standards and values. We look forward to your continued influence in the community and anxiously watch to see who you will help along the way. Thank you for all you have done! We love you!!

Trust us when we say, THIS IS REALLY HARD!! We miss you already, and we still have four days to go! Thank you for being so wonderful since the news has spread! Your kindness has overwhelmed us.! We just had our last 'end of the year' staff party (we missed Emily, Brittney and Jade); it was so wonderful (and emotional)! What a great group of people we have! They are so hard working and so amazing in every way! In answer to your questions that keep coming....1) Yes, we st...ill have fins and reusable swim diapers on sale, 2 for the price of 1, until Thursday at 7pm. 2) We will let you know through FB which of our teachers will continue teaching next year. We may not have this information until spring comes, (as they are unsure of their schedules) but we will let you know asap. 3) Yes, Jan and Becky will be holding seminars on Raising the Bar and Finding Success in your Professional and Personal life. We will get you more information in about a week, but our first one will be Sept 14 6:30-8:30 pm, if you want to put that on your calendar. 4) We still have your underwater picture at the Duck Hut if it was taken this year, but not previous years, so sorry. 4) We are still raffling off one free large whale from the duck hut each day, if you want to sign up, just come on by and enter.
