We are happy to be able to offer our Yoga for Trauma workshop live via Zoom online. Yoga teachers will learn to better understand trauma and develop skills to help support students with various forms of trauma to become empowered through the practice of Iyengar Yoga. Social worker Susan Hess will give a presentation on the causes and manifestations of trauma and how to help those with trauma build resilience. We will examine the impact of trauma on the individual and how it a...ffects a student in a yoga class. Yoga teachers will also learn the principles for creating a trauma-informed safe classroom. Iyengar Yoga Therapeutics offers free yoga classes to at-risk communities throughout Southern California. This workshop is designed to both provide tools for yoga teachers working in this context as well as all teachers working with students for who the impact of past trauma arises in daily life. Teachers will learn how to help students feel safely engaged through yoga. This workshop is eligible for IAYT continuing education credit.
