Let’s talk dimension! One of my favorite things about doing hair color is adding or keeping dimension in my colors. Have you ever looked at a little kids hair? It’s NOT one color, if you look at it in the light you’ll see variations of lighter and darker tones, all of them blending seamlessly together. That was my goal for this gorgeous friend of mine. She had been going super blonde for years and wanted to take down the maintenance and add a little depth back in. Knowing ...that coloring over prelightened hair would fade, I took her lowlights a shade darker than her natural to give her longevity with her color. This strawberry blonde is so stunning! Nicki’s absolutely adores copper, we had her fire orange, this is not that color, which I had pics anyways, over time we toned it down so that as the color settled and her roots grew out they color seamlessly blended the with her naturally blonde roots. She would leave like this and come back one shade lighter next time. It’s very common for their to be fadage, especially with fine hair. That’s the last bits of her balayage growing out SEAMLESSLY This is a picture of one of my faves Dana & her gorgeous layered shag cut I did for her recently, but I couldn’t help but drool over her balayage grow out as well as the cut! If you ever wondered why balayage & Foilayage is so expensive, just consider that you will never have a harsh grow out, you can literally (like pictured above) leave it to grow out naturally w...ithout any worries of it looking bad. Dana would tell me months after her lightening how people would still ask her, out of the blue, if she got it colored again recently! To me, that kind of longevity is well worth the price. It’s been a while but this has been a long pandemic & although I don’t see it going away quickly I am extremely grateful to be spending it with this sweetheart Tilly is such a love bug & I am so happy to be spending so much quality time together! A brief update: I am still waiting until there are better & safer options being offered for our industry. So far I have not felt comfortable with the way & pace of the closure & how opening has been. My clientele includes all... ages & although it’s not easy to say, The reality is I still don’t feel it’s safe to open my books at this time. One day I will be back behind the chair doing all the things I love & more!! I am using this time to grow & take care. Ive been doing lots of education & although I haven’t gotten on a dollhead yet, I have been trying new techniques on my mom & myself. The color on my roots in this pic was done without using bleach. A technique I saw from another gal on Instagram and it was great because my mom was able to help & do my hair for the first time ever!!! Thanks @sweetjaneiv The depth & vibrancy is incredible. Two of my FAVORITE people my Papou and my Mom today my Papou would have been 99! The truth is, when he came to this country after surviving the holocaust he couldn’t remember his exact birthday so he made it tax day. This man has taught me a lot & specifically his last year he taught me how to love deeper than I ever knew was in me. That year changed me and I will always be a better person because of this man. His strength, humor, & love go on in us. His clothes too, I l...ove wearing his flannels and man sweaters & he would be so happy because they are being used and not thrown away. He was a man of very few possessions and I hold these items dearly. Only took one pic of the color but as I ran out I got really creative. This first batch was mixture of pink, bon bon, lavender, & clear. I ran out, so I mixed a fuscia, bon bon, pink, clear mix and then took half and diluted it for a two toned purple bottom! DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME Believe me, it’s not as much fun doing your own hair. This wasn’t easy but It’s going to be so worth it!! Especially when my @oligoprousa #funkhue fun color lasts 2+ months I started with their Black light balayage and extra blonde lighteners and did a full head balayage halfway down the hair and wrapped them in foil for extra lift I always use black light Smart Develope that has bond builders in it. Health is a big concern for me and s...o I only used 10-17 vol. It easily took well over an hour, maybe two to apply. I’m pooped I let it sit for about an hour. ~This is a thank you post to all of the medical workers out there who are still working every day, THANK YOU Last Saturday I woke up with (let’s just say) an issue that seemed normal that I had been treating at home as it’s normally done (NOT covid19). Overnight it became severely infected. I did everything not to go to the ER but after an online video doctor visit I was told I HAD TO GO NOW & that it was not what I thought it was . I packed basically nothing but a phon...e charger & laid facedown in the back of my moms car to get there. No one could come with me inside the hospital. My poor mom was peeking in from the window outside as they did my intake. My pain was through the roof, I was unable to stand sit or walk properly , I was an emotional mess, and to top it off they had to do a procedure that I knew was going to hurt! Thankfully people have been listening to the news and the hospital was empty so I got in quick!! I was not calm, I realized I was super hungry and the sweet nurse brought me a sandwich before they began with the procedure. I ate and then they gave me a pill to help calm me so in the interim I put on around 40 minutes of meditation to help me prepare while the pill kicked in. When my doctor came in she knew I wasn’t going to be an easy patient but she was amazing. She listened to my fears, stopped every time the pain got to be too much, and cheered me along. It was relatively quick and I was back at home within a couple hours. Without these amazing people I would have probably ended up with sepsis and been severely sick. Without technology I would have waited to go to the ER out of fear. There is a lot going on but there’s even more to be grateful for ALL THE TIME. Take care dear friends and remember, there are heroes out there that don’t wear capes but are protecting, helping, and fighting for us always.
