Alcorn Immigration Law 03.04.2021

An immigration reform bill was unveiled by Congressional Democrats outlining President Biden's plan to provide an eight-year pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants. If passed, Dreamers, TPS holders and immigrant farmworkers would be able to apply for green cards immediately. Certain undocumented individuals would be able to apply for temporary legal status if they pass background checks and have paid their taxes. After 5 years they would be allowed to apply for a green card. Employment-based immigration plans include clearing visa backlogs, make it easier for U.S. university graduates in advanced STEM programs to stay in the U.S., and improve access to green cards for workers in lower-wage sectors. The goal for the legislation is to keep families together and embrace diversity.
