We don’t have a pool so not sure ISR is needed for us? Did you know that after pools, more children drown in bathtubs than any other product in the home? Giving your child the tools to know how to float and breathe in the water is a skill that is good for more than just a day at the pool! ... Have questions about lessons? Reach out to us for more information! I did it!! So proud of this guy, and clearly he’s proud of himself as well! The best sight is seeing a child become confident in their swimming/floating abilities! ... Happy Monday! Curious as to why you see photos of kids in the water fully clothed? We believe real life practice is a key to success! 86% of the time when drownings occur children are fully clothed. ... Drowning knows no difference in seasons, so as lessons come to an end, we are sure to have them practice swim, float, swim in winter & summer clothes. Winter jackets, hats, & boots cause children to be heavier in the water then summer shorts, tank tops & sandals. Recreating these scenarios allows children to practice their aquatic problem solving. They are able to feel the difference shoes make in their kicks, hats or hoods can cover their eyes, and jackets cause drag in the water. These are just a few examples of things that can happen and we want them to have the tools to be prepared before an unforeseen water accident occurs! If you’d like to get your child enrolled in our July session, email ISR Roseville at [email protected]

Unfortunately this kind of story is all too common. *Designate a water watcher whose job is to only watch the pool....no cell phone or chatting allowed!! Switch this person out every 15 minutes. *NO FLOATIES while in the pool. Amongst other things, they make children think they can swim and be independent in the water! We get SO MANY calls from families whose children have accidentally ended up in the water after taking a floaty off. Get in the pool with your child! *G...et your child into Swimming Lessons with a Certified Infant Swimming Resource Instructor! In an average of 6 weeks, your child will have the skills to be safe in the water and swim. Certified Infant Swimming Resource Instructors are recognized worldwide as the safest providers of survival swimming lessons. *Learn CPR! See more

And then there were three ISR-Roseville is excited to announce and introduce to you a new member of our team! Please help us welcome, Marissa Janney. Marissa has been a family friend for many years and an established member of the Roseville Community. After a long career in the corporate world, raising two children, and the wife of a retired Roseville PD police officer, she has discovered her passion and calling for becoming an ISR Instructor. Marissa is a creative, comp...assionate, and driven professional. Marissa loves babies and children of all ages, is certified in Child/Infant CPR, First Aid, and AED. She will return as a fully certified ISR instructor and available to start lessons late-March 2021. Along with swim lessons, Marissa will take over responsibility for ISR-Roseville operations, communications, and scheduling. Her experience and organizational skills will enable ISR-Roseville to reach more families and help keep more children in our community safe. As our mission of: "Not One More Child Drowns", reflects the driving force behind everything we do. Todd and I will transition to a full focus on swim lessons. Together, the three of us will also be working on our new indoor facility and the permanent home for ISR-Roseville. We love and appreciate all of our new and returning students. "I have learned that the most impactful mistake I made that led to my son’s death was that I encouraged Levi to believe that water was safe and fun. We don’t stand in a busy parking lot and eagerly proclaim to our impressionable toddlers: Come on in! We don’t encourage our kids to become comfortable around guns. Yet, this is exactly what we do with water, a substance that takes more children’s lives than parking lots and guns combined." ~Nichole Hughes (who lost her 3 year old son to drowning in 2018.) https://community.today.com//how-do-we-save-our-toddlers-f

What is really COOL about CERTIFIED ISR Lessons is that your child will be fully skilled in a matter of WEEKS instead of months. Right now all lessons are being held outside in the fresh air. At the end of April, all California CERTIFIED ISR Instructors were deemed essential by the California Department of Public Health. We are proud to have been given this designation. For information about lessons, please EMAIL [email protected].

This is probably the best coverage ISR and the Miller Family has had. The Millers have been huge advocates for ISR Lessons after the drowning of their baby girl, Emmy. Please give it a watch. Way to go team! <3 https://www.today.com//bode-miller-and-his-family-urge-par

Sadly, there are a couple of very disturbing Tic-Toc videos that have gone viral that have the hashtag "isr." They show an "instructor" (NOT ISR) being quite rough with a baby, throwing the baby in the water while standing on the pool deck. This "instructor" also throws a toddler into the water from the pool deck upside down. These videos are disgusting and very sad. ISR's legal department is "on it" for obvious reasons....they are NOT ISR! I could go on and on as to why... what this woman is doing is not ok, but the good thing is the average person can see how horrible it is too. It saddens us tremendously to be mistaken as this kind of program. Please know that REAL ISR Instructors do NOT throw children! ISR has been around for over 50 years and Certified ISR Instructors are recognized as the safest providers of swimming lessons worldwide. Unfortunately, there are many swim instructors who claim to teach "the same thing as ISR" or claim their lessons are "like ISR." Some even claim that they teach an "ISR hybrid" type of lesson. Using our name as a way to describe the way in which they teach is not ok. How can you tell if an instructor is truly a real CERTIFIED ISR Instructor.... First, there are only 3 Certified ISR Instructors in the Sacramento area. Myself and my husband, Todd Heinzen - we both serve the Roseville/Rocklin/Lincoln/Granite Bay and surrounding areas. And Jan Orwick who teaches in Rancho Cordova and Gold River. Anyone else claiming to be an ISR Instructor is being untruthful. But in general, all certified ISR Instructors will have an email that ends with @infantswim.com. You will also be able to find them on our Instructor locator at www.infantswim.com. If this isn't the case for the person you are contemplating lessons with, then they do not have the training that a Certified ISR Instructor has, nor do they follow all of the safety protocols we do. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have at anytime. Most kindly, ~Keely [email protected]

This little gal is all tuned up and ready for the cool weather! We love seeing our students come back for refresher lessons - especially before the busy holidays! The holidays take us out of our normal environments (other family members’ homes, parties at friends, vacations) which can put your child at risk. It is always especially important to have self-rescue skills in tip top shape to give your child the best chance of survival should they find themselves in the water alone during the chilly time of year! https://youtu.be/NuUgIeEpTds
