WATERLINE BREAK UPDATE @ 12:23 p.m.: IRWD has stopped the leak. Eastbound traffic on Irvine Boulevard from Parkwood to Jeffrey Road will be closed at 1 p.m. today for 48 hours during repairs. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes. TRAFFIC ALERT @ 11:35 a.m.: IRWD crews are repairing a water pipeline break at Irvine Boulevard and Jeffrey Road in Irvine. Motorists are asked to please avoid the area if possible.

Check out the red buckwheat, a low-growing dense evergreen perennial from our very own Channel Islands. It prefers full sun near the coast but will need a little protection as it moves inland, so part shade will do best. Colors range from red to pink, flowering JuneOctober. With a little love and care, this spectacular plant will grow and flourish. Like all our native buckwheat, it is a butterfly magnet.
