Sheldon Trefenanko, of St. Paul, Alberta, Canada, has been certified on the Captains of Crush No. 3 gripper! https://ironmind.com//captains-of-crush/whos-who-no.-3-coc/ Sheldon, who is 42 years old, and 6’ 3 tall at 240-lb. bodyweight, bought his first Captains of Crush grippers over 20 years ago, after seeing them at his armwrestling club. They remained on the back burner until he decided to challenge himself in 2020, training for both the Crushed-to-Dust! Challenge, which... he accomplished in December 2020, and certification on the CoC No. 3. Sheldon works in the oil and gas industry and has a small family farm, where I use my hands on a regular basis at work. With a big family of five children, family time is very important to me. Sheldon also enjoys the outdoors: camping, hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, snowmobiling, quading, and the like. Certification on the CoC No. 3.5 is a goal for Sheldon, along with testing out the CoC Silver Bullet, Little Big Horn, and Red/Gold Nails: You guys sure have a lot of cool tools to play with, LOL. Congratulations, Sheldon, your name has been added to the official list. Sheldon wrote: It’s a great accomplishment for [those on] your lists of all the IronMind challenges. I encourage everyone to give it a try . . . . Most people don’t understand the strength it takes to accomplish these feats. I am very proud to be part of it. During this high-risk COVID period, IronMind has allowed candidates to send videos of their attempts, following clearly stated requirements. The videos are subject to a review panel and final decision by IronMind president Randall Strossen. Thanks to Sheldon’s wife and daughter, who took the video of the certification attempt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFXHWDSVT7k&feature=youtu.be See more

Dominic Crane, of Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, UK, is officially certified on the IronMind Red Nail. At 42 years old, 172 cm (5’ 8) and 80 kg (176 lb.), Dom has been bending nails for about a year, and the first time he tried to bend the IronMind Nails, he did the Blue Nail. Dom competes in grip sport (armlifting), like the King-Kong Grip contest, where lower arm/wrist strength is important. He usually bends twice a week (more now with COVID lockdown), and uses IronMind Yellow and B...lue Nails as warm-ups, working up to a Red Nail in about 3 minutes. Alternate challenges are grade 8 bolts, two Blues taped together, and mid-length bars. Strength training since he was 9 years old, Dom, a former powerlifter, competed in strongman (including the Arnold Amateur Strongman and Europe’s Strongest Man 2018), with his best lifts at 250-kg deadlift, 240-kg squat, and 120-kg log press, and a 180-kg Atlas stone on his fortieth birthday. Dom reports, In 2019 I discovered some damage to my back, squashing my spinal cord, and had surgery to remove part of a vertebrae, so I . . . turned to grippers for training and managed to close an IronMind No. 3 gripper. At the start of our first COVID lockdown, all suppliers were sold out of home gym equipment, so I bought a Bag of Nails from Pullum Sports, and my journey in bending began. Dom hopes to get back to competing at the Arnold, this time for armlifting. Congratulations, Dom, on a job well doneyour name has been added to the Red Nail Roster! https://ironmind.com/c/red-nail-gold-nail-/red-nail-roster/ See more

Chad Gustin, of Lawrence, Kansas, has set a new Rolling Thunder Men's Two-Arm Max Weight world record, hoisting 166.92 kg (368 lb.) https://ironmind.com//rules-and-world-records-0/index.html. The prior world record was held by Alexey Tyukalov, who bested his own record several times since 2018, most recently doing 165.05 kg (364 lb.) (combined bodyweight and attached weight). Gustin, age 41 and standing 6’ 5 at 260 lb., was a pro Highland Games athlete from 2010 to 2017, a...nd his journey to doing pull-ups started in 2017 when he sustained a career ending back injury that required surgery. During my rehabilitation I was restricted in what exercises I could perform, and pull-ups were something I could still challenge myself with, and I noticed they were making my back stronger and more stable. I only had one Rolling Thunder like most people for lifts off the ground but once I got my second Rolling Thunder to perform pull-ups, it was a newfound passion. Chad says he enjoyed the combination of grip strength with pulling power and challenged myself with not only weighted pull-ups but combining explosive band pull-ups in which various strength lifting bands were attached to my waist and the bottom of power rack, forcing me to be stronger at the top finish of the pull-up. Chad is an ER doctorwe thank him for being one of our heroes on the front line!and he adds this positive outlook for our current times: Like everyone I am sick and tired of this COVID pandemic and as an ER doctor this has been one of the most stressful and challenging years of my career, and it was important to me to use this training as an outlet not only to balance stress at work but to be a positive influence to my two children to set goals, dream big, and prepare yourself a little each day to keep moving forward with hope into the future. Congratulations, Chadmission accomplished! You can watch Chad’s world record lift here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vPTbp4SQAw See more
