Interactive Resources has worked with AC Transit on various projects for more than a decade. We just completed a full remodel of the AC Transit Customer Service Center for the district’s General Office building at 1600 Franklin Street in Oakland, California. The service center will open to the public this spring. In the meantime, we’re sharing a sneak peak of our work and the finished project let us know what you think! We're excited to share the following announcement from Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, who has successfully passed a measure to add Nystrom Elementary School in Richmond to the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park. Interactive Resources designed the complete modernization and historical rehabilitation of Nystrom’s 48,000 sf, two-story classroom and administration building, and the new construction of a 14,000 sf state-of-the-art multipurpose building, which also c...an serve as a community center for the surrounding neighborhood. The historic Nystrom Elementary School was originally constructed in 1943 by the Kaiser Company for the US Maritime Commission to serve as the primary elementary school for the children of workers in the nearby shipyards. It is a momentous, fitting, and important act of preservation to have Nystrom officially added to this remarkable cultural and historical resource.

Parklets are a growing trend in urban placemakingpublic parking spaces that are converted to areas to congregate, dine and relax. This trend has been accelerated by public health guidelines during the pandemic, which in many cities mandate outdoor or take-out dining only. The City of Richmond is one of many local governments working with its business to increase their service capacity via official parklet programs. Interactive Resources is designing a parklet for our neighbo...r Kaleidoscope Coffee at 109 Park Place in Point Richmond, California, converting two parking spots in front of the café to create a fun seating and planting space, and to bring interest and encourage foot traffic. The parklet design will be submitted to the City of Richmond Planning Department. Here are a three of our initial concepts, from our designer-drafter Sabrina Richter. Let us know what you think! https://www.intres.com/a-parklet-for-park-place/

As SpaceX rockets into 2021, Elon Musk takes the title of richest man in the world, and the incoming Biden administration promises an exciting clean energy future, with solar being a huge part of the promise, we our proud to showcase and brag about our many solar projects, but especially this one! IR was the engineer of record for the SpaceX HQ solar roof project, just one of hundreds of solar projects we've provided design services for since our founding nearly 50 years ago and our work as one of the early pioneers in solar energy. https://www.intres.com/project/spacex-solar-array/

Annual gift giving to those in need has been a holiday tradition at Interactive Resources for many years. This year, we worked with the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program, which provides emergency shelter and transitional housing for families with children, among other vital programs. Donations of time and money from our staff combined to purchase and deliver gifts for the shelter’s 46 children residents, ranging in age from less than one to 17-years. Pastries for GRIP’s sta...ff members and volunteers accompanied Santa’s delivery. A special thanks to Interactive Resources’ senior designer Mike Tran, who spearheads the company’s efforts with Christina Zirker, our administrative assistant. And thank you to Inga Tran, Mike’s wife, who helped with shopping and wrapping, and as we continue to work remotely, turned the Tran household into Santa’s workshop. We wish you all a happy holiday and a new year filled with joy, peace and prosperity! https://www.intres.com/2020-annual-adopted-families-progra/
