Welcome! Integral TMS has been established to provide cutting edge Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to treat unipolar and bipolar depression, and anxiety. Dr. Solvason brings 18 years of knowledge and experience both doing research using TMS, and treating patients, and since TMS was FDA approved in 2007. He has spent the last 20 years treating patients who have been severely ill, with difficult to treat depression. This long and intense exposure to highly treatment re...sistant depression (TRD) has lead, over time, to a more broad and comprehensive view of all the factors that contribute to the evolution of TRD. Integral TMS is a unique and, as far as we know, sole practice using TMS integrated with non-traditional approaches, bringing a different and more broad conception of depression and treatments to achieve, as well sustain, recovery. We have taken a leap forward, in not only conceptualizing major depression and bipolar disorder as chronic disorders with waxing and waning symptoms, suffering and disability, but have brought a holistic perspective integrating traditional Chinese medicine and meditative therapeutic movements practiced in Shaolin qigong. We strongly believe, and the latest research supports, that this integrated approach will improve acute outcomes, as well as improve quality of life and well-being over a lifetime. We provide a sophisticated and rational psychopharmacologic approach for difficult to treat depression and anxiety, using TMS in combination with devices developed by doctors and researchers of traditional Chinese medication, that are based on principles from traditional Chinese medicine, and the ancient practice of Shaolin qigong. Dr. Solvason has personally trained in qigong, visited and practiced qigong at the Shaolin Temple in China, and presented work with TMS at an international Shaolin Chan Medicine conference at the Shaolin Temple, nestled in the Songshan mountains of Henan Province. At the International Health Qigong Conference he presented a rational framework to guide the integration of Western and Eastern medicine to treat depression and anxiety. Dr. Solvason has thought carefully through the why and how of integrating Western and Eastern medicine to treat mood disorders and anxiety. He has extensive knowledge of the scientific literature to understand the neurobiology of these illnesses and how these practices may effectively work together to improve the lives of those affected by depression and anxiety. Integral TMS is the culmination of Dr. Solvason’s extensive experience with the most difficult and disabling depression, his numerous years of research experience, as well as involvement in ongoing research using TMS for severe depression. Integral TMS is creating an integrated clinical practice that will become the standard of practice.
