Reconstruction of jaw deformities may require segmenting the skeletal arches to level, align and coordinate the upper and lower teeth. Computer aided surgical simulation and planning facilitates these relatively complex multi-axial movements. Ultimately, bite correction, airway, aesthetics and functional optimization is the goal for these patients. This often includes upper and lower jaw/chin surgery in conjunction with nasal septoplasty or rhino-septoplasty. This case demonstrates the correction of an open bite deformity utilizing orthognathic/corrective jaw surgery and orthodontics.

Bone graft material (from the patient, donor or synthetic) can be placed around the screws in regenerating bone volume.
