Never too old to start! Our big kids are just as impressive as our babies :)

Why are ISR Lessons one-on-one instead of a group? Great question, and it’s one we get quite a bit! Each ISR lesson is custom tailored to your child’s level of ...development, and each subsequent lesson will build on the strides and accomplishments of the previous lesson. By providing one-on-one lessons, ISR Instructors focus on one child as they build a core competency of survival skills which form the foundation for a lifetime of fun, SAFE, enjoyment of the water. Wishing everyone a safe and happy 2020. Happy New Year's to all of my ISR families out there!

Infant Swim North Valley 19.08.2020

As responsible and loving parents, you do all you can to protect you children by installing locks, fences, and alarms around the house to protect them. However,... it is important to remember that those safety measures don't follow your family to the lake, beach, water park, or a friend's house down the street. Each year we hear from responsible parents wanting to turn their heartbreak into something positive for other families and overwhelmingly, their tragedy occurred outside their home. Constant supervision and a skilled little one are portable. Learn more at our website: www.infantswim.com.

What do children learn at ISR? A whole lot! Students as young as 6 months old can learn to roll over onto their backs to float, rest and breathe, and maintain that life-saving position until help arrives. To find an ISR Instructor near you, please visit www.infantswim.com.

As an ISR instructor, I get asked about secondary drowning all the time. Please take a moment to watch this and Share.

FACT: More children die or are seriously injured every year from drowning than automobile accidents yet we study, analyze and critique the safety of the carsea...ts we use RIGOROUSLY....and then we casually put our children in swim lessons without asking the right questions...."What will they learn? What is your training? Will you teach them to hold their breath PROPERLY on the first day? Will you help them become comfortable so they don't PANIC in a real life emergency situation?" and we trust their LIVES to $5 inflatable arm bands. ISR isn't a means to get kids to swim early so we can not have to watch them around the pool anymore...It's the LAST line of defense and the BONUS is that they learn to swim early. But I can assure you, your heart and soul will be at ease KNOWING that you did everything you could to prepare them. I'm so happy to be a part of the team that is making a difference in a global drowning prevention strategy. #isr #infantswimmingresource See more

A great float is the first building block to the full ISR Self-Rescue skill set. Once little ones can float, their ISR Instructor gently guides them through wh...at it takes to rollover and get to their newly learned float until they can do it all by themselves... eventually while fully clothed. A toy can get a curious little one in over her head...quickly. It's important to remember that while alarms, fences, out-of-reach locks, and yes even survival s...wimming skills, are vital components of aquatic safety, there is no substitute for adult supervision. We also know that access to ISR Lessons isn't always available, so as we grow our team of ISR Instructors, we've shared several resources to ensure we do everything we can to keep families safe here. Had it not been for you or the ISR program, we don’t think he’d be here today. Just a sampling of the very humbling words our Certified Instructors have heard... from their students’ families. At ISR, we never want our students to have to use their ISR Self-Rescue skills but it does happen. Our goal is to prepare your child in case the unthinkable happens. Teaching little ones to save themselves in the water if the need were to arise is the sole purpose of Infant Swimming Resource; that isn’t to say, however, that... there aren’t some awesome added benefits. For a lot of little ones, learning their ISR Self-Rescueskills will be the first thing they accomplish without the help of mom and dad. We never get tired of seeing young children so proud of themselves! See more

While swimming may be a seasonal activity for most, it’s important to remember that drowning knows no season. Accidents are unplanned and most children who fall into the water accidentally do so fully-clothed. Water is everywhere: hot tubs, bath tubs, buckets, pools, and lakes are there even when we don’t plan them into our day.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past 50 years, it’s to never, ever, underestimate the curiosity and ability of a child. Coincidentally the same cur...iosity and ability little ones call on to slip away undetected and defeat layers of prevention like pool fences and locked doors, are what we call on to teach them how to save themselves if they reached the water alone. "Why do you recommend I bring my child back for more lessons if she already knows how to swim?" Good question, and it’s one we get quite frequently from first-t...ime ISR Parents. We recommend little ones come back at least each year for refresher lessons to make sure the skills they learned last year still fit their big kid body. Infants who have already learned to float will likely be ready to incorporate their great float into the full ISR Self-Rescue Sequence which means swimming for a short distance, then rolling over to float and breathe, and flipping back over to continue swimming. Fact is, the majority of children who find themselves in the water al...one do so fully clothed as their mommies and daddies weren’t planning on them being in the water.
