The version of A Christmas Carol we've presented on stage for the past 15 years is based on the text Charles Dickens himself presented to audiences across America. He was inspired to write this abridged version following an evening where he read the entire, original book to his friends and colleagues (illustrated here). You can now have an audiobook of A Christmas Carol, read in its entirety by David Melville in the style of Dickens himself. Presented in 5 staves, start a new tradition by gathering around the warmth of a device to nourish your soul with this tale of redemption. Purchase it here: iscla.org/dickens-2020
A Christmas Carol, The Nutcracker, Handel's Messiah..."these shows deliver so many intangibles sowing company camaraderie, strengthening ties to core audiences..." Thank you Los Angeles Times for shining a light on the challenges ISC and our colleagues at A Noise Within Theatre Los Angeles Master Chorale Inland Pacific Ballet & Los Angeles Ballet face this season. We've all created new holiday offerings to stay connected to you and to keep us going into the New Year. Your support means so much more than holiday entertainment. https://www.latimes.com//holiday-shows-nutcracker-christma
We are so excited to see ISC Family member Philicia Saunders in her solo show, Breathe. She writes and acts in a play that is a form of art activism fusing live performance, cinema, performance art and artistic swimming in a hybridized narrative that could only be born during these challenging, yet galvanizing times. With the recent political, racial, and global unrest occurring throughout 2020, this one-woman live theater show is based on her life-changing personal journey ...towards activism after a chance trip to a Civil Rights monument during a civil rights tour in Alabama, and mentorship by a luminary of activism, Sweet Alice Harris - one of Watts, CA's most beloved community organizers and whose Parents of Watts organization was created as a result of the Watts unrest of 1965. The virtual premiere of Breathe. streams on Friday, Dec. 11 at 5:00 p.m. PST, Saturday, Dec. 12 at 3:30 p.m PST, and on Friday, Dec. 18 at 5:00 p.m. PST on YouTube LIVE. There is also a donation-based performance on Sunday, December 13 at 2:00pm on Twitch, which is completely free/pay what you can (with a talkback with Sweet Alice herself) - for this event, you can stream the show at this link: http://twitch.tv/outpost13. All performances will have post-show talkbacks. For tickets for show dates outside of Dec 13, go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/o/31735179039

"From all of us at ISC, thank you for letting us find you in this odd, distanced, non-corporeal way. For making theater with us in the ether. We hope that this production brought you comfort, laughter, and connection through crisis. If the universe allows, we’ll meet up with you in the park next summer. We’ll laugh and laugh together, from the sheer relief of survival. And drifting up around us, shimmering and delicate, will be the possibility of a world transformed." Melissa Chalsma, Artistic Director & Director for Romeo & Juliet: Living Room Edition #ShakespeareSetFree
