Open House of the 2019 Outrigger Season is on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23RD, FROM 11:00 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M. on our beach!! This is a time when you invite your friends, family, acquaintances, co-workers, neighbors, dog-walkers, baby-sitters, accountants, trainers, ..or anyone that looks like a good IMUA teammate to come on down to TRY PADDLING IN A SIX MAN OUTRIGGER CANOE and meet our peeps!!! We’ll have food and refreshments and we’ll get everyone out on the water for some fun. We’re looking to have the biggest (in number) and most competitive Novice Team ever!!! Be an integral part in making that happen!

If you’re in the area later today please stop by and help support my club. I plan on being there around 5:30.

Boats are prepped and ready to make their way to Catalina Island for the 59th Annual Catalina Crossing. Good luck on Saturday to our women and co-ed crews and all the racers involved.

The Imua Planning Committee had a productive night of planning for Noah Kalama Sprint State Champs on July 28th. There was thought provoking discussions and even a fashion show to end the evening (who wore it better Lee or Dora). Mark your calendars for 7/28/2018.

Some of our crews walked away with medals in the following areas: - Novice Open Co-ed 2nd -Masters Co-ed 1st -Co-ed Open 3rd -Mens Masters UL 3rd.... Overall it was a great day off and on the water for all of our crews.

Congratulations to Debi Bober for being recognized as the Long Beach Unified School District Teacher of the Year!!! Not only does she rock on the water, she also does so in the classroom. The students of the Long Beach community are truly blessed to have such a caring, dedicated, strong and amazing individual as their teacher. You are a super hero inside and outside of the classroom. Way to go!!!!

We kicked off the season at Crystal Pier with 2 novice boats. Both did a great job in their first race. The women scored a 1st place medal in the Masters Unlimited division and the Co-ed Open crew placed 2nd in a very tight race. The other crews all had respectful times despite the choppy conditions and swells. It was a fun day for all. Up next.. Rig Run.
