The Imperial County District Attorney’s Office extends its condolences to the Riverside CHP on the recent death of one of their motorcycle officers in the line of duty.

Our team from Imperial County is in Fort Worth, Texas attending the International Family Justice Center Conference. This conference is the only violence prevention conference focused on the development of multi-agency/multi-disciplinary teams. Our team included Peggy Price, Rosyo Ramirez, Arcenia Gonzales, Judi Pritchard, Luis Castro and our very own Victim Advocate John Lacuesta. Thank you to WomanHaven/Center for Family Solutions for providing the office space for the first location of our Family Justice Center and thank you to the Imperial County Board of Supervisors and Social Services Director Peggy Price for organizing the current location and ongoing development. You are all making a difference in the lives of victims and their families.

Congratulations to Deputy District Attorney Jodi Miller. At the Sure Helpline Gala Jodi was presented with the Woman of Iron Award in recognition for her prosecution of sex offenders and service to sexual assault victims. Jodi was honored to be the third recipient of this award from the District Attorney's Office. District Attorney Gilbert G. Otero and Assistant District Attorney Deborah Owen were previous recipients. Jodi Miller is assigned to the Special Victims Unit which was created by DA Otero in 2013 to ensure justice for victims of sexual assault, child abuse and human exploitation.

The Imperial County District Attorney's Office is offering support and services to students of Imperial High School affected by the recent criminal threats made against students. All high school students who were impacted by this incident are eligible for counseling services. For those who would like to utilize this service, please contact the Victim Witness Assistance Program at (442)265-1175.

District Attorney Gilbert G. Otero announced that charges have been filed in connection with threats made to Imperial High School.

Jury returns a guilty verdict in a felony domestic violence case. Deputy District Attorney Laura Keenan presented evidence to the court that the defendant had previously been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon.
