Christmas message. Pretty much everyone has faced some sort of struggle in 2020 in varying degrees. So, how do we even begin to write our Christmas wishes. We will start with "Hope," All of our volunteers know that in order to help those that need our care in 2021, we must have hope, faith and love. IMAHelps hopes that we will be able to travel and deliver care in both Jamaica and Paraguay this coming year . For now, our wish is that you enjoy your families, stay safe and strong! Dr. Gin Goei on Saturday was nominated to serve on the IMAHelps Board of Directors. She and her husband, Dr. Stephen Goei, an oral surgeon, have volunteered on several IMAHelps medical humanitarian missions in Paraguay and Nicaragua along with their children. Dr. Gin Goei has been a practicing dentist for nearly thirty-five years in the San Gabriel Valley. She grew up in Germany and the Netherlands, and graduated dental school from the renowned University of Amsterdam in the... Netherlands in 1986. Dr. Goei later moved to Los Angeles, California where she started practicing with Drs. Lionel and Linda Goei. She continued her education by obtaining an Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry Certificate at UCLA, and a fellowship in Neuromuscular Dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. LVI is one of the most premier post graduate teaching centers for cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry in the world. She continued her studies in G-neuromuscular dentistry with Dr. Clayton Chan to greatly improve care to patients with TMJ/TMD symptoms. Dr. Goei combines her dental expertise with modern procedures and cutting-edge technology to treat TMJ and facial pain. She uses her education to design beautiful and healthy smiles for her patients. The IMAHelps Board of Directors met Saturday at the Indian Wells office of Dr. Doriana Cosgrove to discuss preparations for upcoming medical humanitarian missions to Ecuador, Paraguay and Jamaica. We are preparing to do a small mission this fall and a large mission in the summer of 2022. We expect to finalize dates, plans and locations for our upcoming missions this summer. The board also voted unanimously to nominate Dr. Gin Goei, a South Pasadena-based dentist, to the IMAHelps board. Dr. Goei and her husband, Dr. Stephen Goei, an oral surgeon, have volunteered on recent IMAHelps missions to Paraguay along with their children.

A note to the IMAHelps family, Ines Allen and her family spent Thanksgiving celebrating the life of Ines’s dad, Rafael, who passed away last night at Ines's home after spending Thanksgiving Day holding hands with Magdalena, his wife of 83 years. Ines’s parents have been inseparable since they were young teenagers in Quito, Ecuador. They exemplify the essence of lifelong love and commitment. These past few weeks have been extraordinarily difficult for Ines, who provided hospi...ce care for her father at her home while also grieving the loss of her brother, Galo, who passed away on November 19 due to cancer. Galo joined the IMAHelps volunteers on our medical humanitarian missions to El Salvador and Peru. Ines told me her three brothers are her "best friends," so she is spending the Thanksgiving weekend grieving the loss of both her father and one of her best friends. My most wonderful role model was Galito because he was so humble and kind, Ines told me. Ines told me her father passed away during their Thanksgiving dinner. Last night, we prayed on top of my dad before the dinner that (my son) Donovan prepared for us. So it was (my sister) Ana, my Auntie Inés, Donovan, (Donovan’s fiancée) Annika, (my husband) Tracey, my mom and I. We all held hands and prayed over him before dinner, and we ate and we were all remembering our dad and my mom’s things they used to do. I heard my dad’s voice calling me, and I went back to the room and I found him dead. I’m guessing he probably passed the moment I heard his voice.
