Time Frame: 6 Weeks // Budget: $10,000 // Design Fee: $2,500 Here is a small project I took on over the summer to help a past client design her young son’s bedrooms. She didn’t want to spend a lot of money, knowing that someday her boys will want to change their rooms, but also wanted to create something that they would like now, and could grow in to. She had a Feng Sui expert evaluate the space first. Going off of the expert’s advice, I came up with space plans for each room that adhered to Feng Sui. I designed the rooms based off the boy’s favorite colors. New furniture, custom window coverings, paint and decor were selected to give the boy’s each a special room of their own. RUSTIC GLAM Time Frame: 5 Weeks // Budget: $16,000 // Design Fee: $1,250 After purchasing a new home in north Upland, this young couple enlisted me to help create a warm, relaxing environment in their living/dining space. They didn’t want anything too fussy or formal. They wanted a comfortable space to entertain, play cards and watch TV. I had a good foundation of dark wood floors and grey walls to work with. Everything else was newly purchased. Instead of a formal dining roo...m, they requested a more relaxed space to hang out with friends. I had a custom L-shaped banquette made in a slate blue velvet and a glamorous statement chandelier installed for a wow factor. The bench came as part of the table set, but I had it reupholstered in the same fabric as the banquette. A ceiling fan and a new entry light were installed to reinforce the rustic vibe. Elegant, yet comfortable furnishings were purchased, custom 2 finger pleat drapes in an oatmeal fabric were hung, and accessories and decor were layered in to create a lived-in feeling. Overall, the space is now a great place to relax and hang out with family and friends. See more

CONTEMPORARY COMFORT Time Frame: 7 Weeks // Budget: $17,000 // Design Fee: $1,875 When moving from LA to La Verne, this young family reached out to me to help make their new home more contemporary to better reflect their personality. The home had a good foundation to work around with it's wood flooring, new cabinets and updated fireplace. I added layers of decor and infused a contemporary vibe that suited their style. There is plenty of seating for family and friends on the c...ustom sectional, chaise and counter stools. New window coverings were custom made with a silvery-white shimmer and thick, grey banded edge detail. To add even more character to the space, I used a geometric flocked wall covering. The walls were painted in 2 shades of grey. A lot of decor, art and accessories were added to make the space feel warm and inviting. The entryway lighting and existing kitchen pendants were replaced with more modern fixtures as well as the cabinetry hardware. Now the space is a place where they can relax, spend time together and entertain family and friends. See more

COZY RUSTIC SIMPLICITY Time Frame: 2 Months // Budget: $15,000 // Design Fee: $1,500 This couple moved into their Claremont house about year ago and tried designing and decorating their home on their own but just couldn’t get the feel that they were going for. That’s when they contacted me and asked me to step in and help. When meeting with them, I immediately felt comfortable with them and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. They wanted something that was cozy, comfortab...le and inviting with a lot of rustic charm. I channeled Joanna Gaines from HGTV’s Fixer Upper and gave them the rustic home that they were hoping for. I started by redesigning their fireplace with a stacked stone surround, travertine herringbone hearth and I had my handyman make me a rustic wood mantel. Above, we mounted the TV, but it was quite unsightly, so we hung a mirrored cabinet over it to hide it. Next up were the rustic wood clad walls. I wanted to bring some warmth and texture to the space by adding a wood element. I had the same handyman install this labor of love. A new chandelier replaced the old ceiling fan, new custom drapes were installed, the chest of drawers was repainted and all furnishings and decor are new with the exception of the coffee table and a side table. The result is another simple, rustic and cozy space to relax with family and friends. In the family room, we used some existing furniture and decor and layered charm on top of charm. We installed a new chandelier in the breakfast nook and had a rustic wood ceiling beam added to the space as well to camouflage the drop in ceiling height. New paint colors, custom window coverings and a multitude of furniture and decor were added to make this family room a space you want to lounge. The overall feeling is now a place where you can go and kick up your feet, read a book or watch TV and enjoy your cup of coffee or glass of wine. Next uptheir living room and dining room!
