This primer provides an overview of Medicaid HCBS, the institutional bias, and how states are doing in terms of serving older adults with disabilities in the community. It also discusses the gaps and inequities in the HCBS system. The table in the appendix includes state-specific information about HCBS programs serving older adults with disabilities. This is important information for people who want to live in their homes and avoid costly, segregated, institutional settings. Contact Independent Living Resource Center of the Tri-Counties for more information about how you can meet your needs in the community! https://appliedselfdirection.us14.list-manage.com/tr/click

LUYV’s Moving in project has been going since May. We have done: 35 separate move-ins 55 people moved in to those spaces. If you have a donation of gen...tly used furniture or supply boxes, please email Kathy Powell at [email protected] with a picture of the item you want to donate. Most of the furniture is gently used donations: side tables, night stands, coffee tables, kitchenette sets. Smaller couches & chairs newer model tvs, beds or sheet sets, clean, in bags, mark the size of the bed. This is truly an interfaith volunteer effort Judy’s team Orchard church donated 20 kitchen supply boxes Norm from Center for Spiritual Living has a team who picks up the used furniture and moves the stuff to a storage unit or the client’s apartment. Scott’s team from Foothill Church helps organize the storage units & do a run to the dump Ruth & Kappy from UUCV continue to create bathroom supply boxes & office supply, respectively. UUCV donors subsidize the program via the plate collections. Several anonymous donors paid for storage rental units.
