Advanced material can improve patient acceptance and clinical results. Two materials that are still commonly used in dentistry today, cobalt chrome alloy and nylon, were invented nearly 80 years ago. The use of cobalt chrome for removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks gained popularity in the 1930s after the price of gold had doubled. Nylon, the first commercially successful synthetic polymer, was invented in 1938 and used to make toothbrush bristles; 20 years later nylon began to be used as a flexible RPD material. RPD techniques and materials may have evolved very slowly over the ensuing decades, but recent advances in thermoplastic technology and dramatic changes in demographics are promising to reshape the place of removable prosthetics in clinical dentistry.

The IPS e.max Press Impulse ingots in Value shades allow different brightness effects to be reproduced. They are used in the fabrication of partial crowns, single crowns as well as bridges. No matter whether a specific tooth shade needs to be created based on a defined brightness value, or consistent brightness needs to be established throughout restorations with different core shades, the Value shades enable restorations to be fabricated that blend in seamlessly with the rem...aining dentition. The desired tooth shade is finally attained by means of the staining or cut-back technique. Lifelike opalescent effect In the fabrication of veneers, particularly thin veneers, translucency and opalescence play a role that is equally important to that of the tooth shade in order to attain the desired optical effects. With the two new IPS e.max Press Impulse Opal ingots, the opalescent effect of natural teeth can be reliably mimicked, which is particularly desirable when fabricating anterior veneers.

BruxZir Solid Zirconia is a monolithic zirconia crown, bridge, screw-retained implant crown, inlay or onlay with no porcelain overlay. First launched as being "More Brawn Than Beauty," the material was originally intended to provide a durable, more esthetic alternative to posterior metal occlusal PFMs or cast gold restorations for demanding situations like bruxers, implant restorations and areas with limited occlusal space. Now, thanks to the new BruxZir Shaded formulation,... BruxZir restorations exhibit improved translucency and color similar to natural dentition, making them a restorative option in the anterior as well. Complete color penetration all the way through the restorations ensures greater shade consistency and prevents any shade changes after occlusal adjustment. Designed and milled using CAD/CAM technology, BruxZir Solid Zirconia is sintered for 2.0 hours at 1,530 degrees Celsius to achieve optimum strength. The final BruxZir crown or bridge is then glazed to a smooth surface. BruxZir Solid Zirconia crowns & bridges are backed by Glidewell Dental Lab's seven-year free replacement warranty.

We embrace digital dentistry. iCO Dental has the ability to receive virtual impressions; use CAD for crown, bridge and cast partial frameworks that are "digitally waxed" in our wax production center and produce zirconia and other milled crowns with CAM. We are also your source for titanium and zirconia custom milled bars and implant abutments. The efficiency, quality and improved communications made possible with digital dentistry is amazing. It gives patients and dentists a more comfortable, less invasive way to get the data necessary for crowns, reduces time lost for pick-ups, eliminates chemical-based processes and expedites delivery of restorations. The improved esthetics and fit results in fewer remakes and reduced seating time.
