After a year of restricted travel, we're all restless to take on our next adventure. The HydraPak Flux made the list of affordable gifts for the wanderer in your life. "Water bottles are essential for any trip, but can commandeer a lot of bag space. Enter the Flux, which shrinks as you drink, becoming small enough when empty to fit in a jacket pocket." This week, we’ve teamed up with a coalition of The Conservation Alliance member companies to give back to wild places. From October 1218, we will be donating 5% of our online sales to support their vision of a planet where wild places, wildlife, and people thrive together. Since 1989, The Conservation Alliance has helped to protect 73 million acres and 3,575 river miles, remove or halt 36 dams, purchase 17 climbing areas, and designate five marine reserves. Your purchase on... hydrapak.com this week will directly help their work to go even further. Already scoping out gift ideas for the outdoor enthusiast in your life? You're in luck. The HydraPak Flux ultra-light collapsible bottle was listed as one of 'The Best Gifts for Hikers, According to Hikers' by The Strategist. "In a day of 13 or 14 miles of hiking, Graham says she’ll go through three to four liters of water, and though she loves the idea of stainless-steel containers, in reality she says they’re heavy, and I hate them. Instead, Graham recommends gifting one of HydraPak’s collapsible bottles, which hold up to 1.5 liters of water, but still crush down to the size of an eyeglasses case that I can just shove in my pocket. https://nymag.com/strateg/article/best-gift-for-hikers.html

Don't forget to #RecreateResponsibly this Labor Day weekend! Follow these 6 tips to stay healthy while safely enjoying your local public lands, parks, trails, and waters: 1. KNOW BEFORE YOU GO... Check the status of the place you want to visit. If it is closed, don't go. If it is crowded, have a plan B. 2. PRACTICE PHYSICAL DISTANCING Adventure only with your immediate household. Be prepared to cover your nose and mouth and give others space. If you are sick, stay home. 3. STAY CLOSE TO HOME This is not the time to travel long distances to recreate. Most places are only open for day use. 4. PLAN AHEAD Prepare for facilities to be closed, pack lunch and bring essentials like hand sanitizer and a face covering. 5. PLAY IT SAFE Slow down and choose lower-risk activities to reduce your risk of injury. Search and rescue operations and health care resources are both strained. 6. LEAVE NO TRACE Respect public lands and communities and take all your garbage with you.

Remote, untouched, and prime for adventure, California’s Channel Islands might just be the coolest national park you’ve never heard of. The park protects a collection of five islands and their surrounding waters off the coast of Ventura, enticing travelers with secluded beaches, mind-blowing flora and fauna, and alluring sea caves. Known as the Galapagos of North America, we think this park makes for one of the best kayaking and camping destinations in California. #backyardbucketlist

CleverHiker called out the Flux Bottle as the Best Collapsible Water Bottle For Backpacking & Travel. "We often carry soft bottles as backup water storage on backpacking trips, but we never imagined we’d enjoy using one on a daily basis. Enter the Hydrapak Flux 32 oz.. This bottle rolls up super small, then springs to life and holds its shape when unfolded. Many soft bottles are awkward to drink from because they’re floppy. The Flux, however, feels more similar to drinking from a rigid bottle. The low weight and compact design of the Flux make it great for any occasion, but it especially shines during travel or hiking and backpacking trips."

This may seem unusual at first, but a bladder is actually the best way to stay hydrated when you train inside. The key here is making it easy to drink while on the bike or while running, keeping probably more fluid than you need on hand, and having something that’s easy to fill, transport, and clean. The Hydrapak is by far the easiest to clean and fill, with its almost zip-lock-like opening, and two liters is enough for all but the absolutely longest rides or runs. You won’t need to get a backpack for indoor training, as you can just lay it on a stand or pedestal and grab the hose as you see fit. via Triathlete Magazine
