For Your Information: Dear Parents, For those who have been having issues with the high cost of their EpiPen prescriptions, we would like to let you know about new resources that have been made available by Mylan. ... Please note that not everybody will be able to take advantage of these programs and we are not trying to promote the company, but we wanted to make sure that the information makes it out to those families who can and want to take advantage of these programs. First, the previous "$0 Co-Pay" cards will now cover the first $300 of your co-pay or deductible. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this is retroactive. Second, the program that provides EpiPens to those in financial need will presumably expand to cover families under 400% of the Federal Poverty Line (about $95,000 per year for a family of four). (Note, it does not seem the website has been updated to the new amount and it still says 200%.) Dear Parents, We have just found out that our incoming phone calls are not going through. We are working to get this corrected as soon as possible.... If you are concerned about your child's health and, especially if they are showing any signs of distress, trouble breathing, a fever that cannot be readily controlled, or signs of dehydration (such as dry mouth, lack of urine output, listlessness), you may be able to get medical attention at a local Urgent Care. Dear Parents, We would like to let you know about the voluntary recall on the injectable epinephrine medication Auvi-Q. As of Monday, October 26, there have been 26 unconfirmed reports of device malfunctions. The recall includes Auvi-Q packs in lots numbered 2299596 through 3037230, which expire March 2016 through December 2016. If you use this product, please contact our office and we can call in a new prescription for an alternative. This should only affect a few families and does not affect other injectable epinephrine medications such as EpiPen.
