Southern California home prices reach record levels

First-time home buyers accounted for 34% of sales in July, up from 32% a year earlier. (WSJ)

Considering stock prices and home sales alone, it’s hard to believe we’re in the middle of a pandemic. The NASDAQ and S&P both hit record highs and the National Association of Realtors reported that home sales jumped 24.7% from June to July the largest monthly gain ever recorded. While the stock market remains unpredictable, housing shows no sign of slowing. Record low mortgage rates continue to fuel purchase applications, which increased week-over-week and are now 27% higher than the same period last year.
