Life has been a series of moguls lately, hasn’t it? With ski season’s abrupt end, Tahoe South has been surreal without a soul in sight. We miss youour guestsmore than you know, but we’re also grateful that you’re home safe right now. As we marvel at deserted streets, the quiet trails, and that big blue lake outside our door (don’t worry, it’s all still here), we’ve noticed that certain things really haven’t changed.... The splash of the water against the coastline, a welcome meditative moment for those of us who are working through these days. The crunch of twigs and brush under our boots on an otherwise quiet hike around the lake. The way the snow melts where the sun shines, and holds strong on the shady side of the streets. We look out across our lawn and imagine people like you gathered around our fire pits, laughing about the days’ adventure and roasting s’mores. We’re brought back to reality when we realize that right now it’s just us, but we too are planning for tomorrow. We in Tahoe understand seasonality all too well. We know that each season brings with it great challenges and rewards we never saw coming. While we weather this current storm, we keep an optimistic eye on the future forecastthe next season, and the one after that. There’s sun in the forecast. We’re looking forward to a lot of things. Watching boats out on the water this summer. Mountain biking, outdoor yoga, sunsets. Leaves changing color again this fall. Opening day at Heavenly next winter. We’re getting through today, and dreaming of tomorrow. Stay home, stay safe, and we’ll see you on the other side of the season. All our best, The Hotel Becket Team

You’ll feel like you’ve finished a few laps as you sip this blackberry chocolate old fashioned: 2 ounces rye whiskey 3 dashes chocolate bitters 3 blackberries (two muddled, one for garnish)... 1 brown sugar cube Slice of blood orange Muddle two blackberries and brown sugar cube in the bottom of a glass. Add the whiskey and bitters; stir with cocktail spoon. Garnish with the blood orange and the remaining blackberry.
