Happy Thanksgiving! We are very thankful to everyone who supports us and our efforts for the horses! A special thank you to all of our volunteers, this year would have been very hard to get through without your time helping!
Introducing Reece’s Pieces (bay) and S’mores (paint) they came from the feedlot in Fallon, Nv. Reece’s pieces is about 2 1/2 - 3 years old, gelding. He has only been working on halter breaking for a few days and is super smart and learns quickly. S’mores is about 13-16 years old, gelding. He is short vision in his left eye but is super sweet and very easy going. He does need some weight so we will be working on that first.... Both will be scheduled for dentals and over all health exam shortly, just want to work with Reece’s Pieces a little more before we schedule. Both are in need of a good trim and will be addressing that very soon too.
Skittles just came in today from Stanislaus County Animal Services. He was a stray that came in to them at the end of December. He starts his new life today! On Monday he will get caught up on vaccinations, dentals, and get a overall health evaluation at Sweet River Equine Clinic.
They are all settled in for the night and eating dinner. Everyone traveled well, now for some rest for all of us!
2 ponies and Pepper are on their way home!
Thank you Joleen for working with our little guy, can’t wait to meet him Wednesday!
Betty and Darlene have a special connection, Betty loves her so much and will let her do so much with her ! The rest of us here can’t even catch her. We look forward to seeing what the two of the can do!
Happy is asking for your help, she managed to shatter her splint bone(X-ray is in the pictures) on her left hind leg. Unfortunately the breaks will not heal on their own and need to be removed as one piece has already floated up the leg. We have managed to get the infection cleared up with 5 days of iv antibiotics and followed up with oral meds that she will continue to be on through surgery and after. We have a surgery scheduled for September 28, 2020 providing the swelling... continues to go down. Donations can be made directly to Sweet River Equine Clinic (209)524-9191 Or to us directly 1476 Church St. Modesto, Ca 95357 Or through Network for Good/Facebook She has already incurred $2000 in vet bills to this point clearing up the infection and x-rays. Our surgery estimate is $1063. *All donations are tax deductible! See more
Twist and Betty enjoying some grazing time while I hang out with them. Both mares are 8 years old and current in dental, deworming, and vaccinations. They are project mares and well put together, if your interested in one of them please message us to discuss them further.
Please save the date for our Dinner and Fundraiser for the horses. If we are not able to have the dinner in person we do have a back-up plan of a drive-thur dinner. Tickets are$50 and we will have table prices posted soon.
Sometimes there is that itch that you just can’t get, Fallon had one of those.
Happy had her check up from surgery this morning, she will is healing well! Stitches are out and her leg is looking really good.
Betty is making progress, she has been slow to except new people in her life. She was a camp fire victim and scared of people when she came here. We have found that food is a key to making a friendship with her. We look forward to seeing what she is going to do, if your looking for a well built 8 year old project horse she will be available soon.
We had a great weekend at Steve Bauhr and Brenda Bauhr’s ranch last weekend for the pairs horsemanship challenge. We had 3 adopted horses participating Dublin with Geri, Pico (woody) with Aimee Groen, and Nick with Kristen. Tucker also joined our group with Hope riding him. All of the horses and riders did really well! Pico was the lucky horse that Mike Beck used for his clinic on Sunday morning. Thank you to Steve and Brenda for making these great events! We hope to see more of our adopted horses at future events!
Happy is recovering well from surgery! Wrap changes are looking better each time on the surgery site!
Happy’s surgery went well, she was smart during recovery and took her time to get up. She is being monitored through the night to make sure she continues on the right path. Thank you to Sweet River Equine Clinic for taking great care of her! We would also like to thank everyone who has donated towards her surgery costs! If you would like to donate directly to her bill you can call Sweet River Equine Clinic at 209-524-9191 Thank you to everyone for supporting Happy!
Congratulations to Danny and Robin on the adoption of Flame!!!
After working, we are letting the horses stretch their backs out at the same time as teaching them to step up on things.
Huge progress with Twist today! Don took the time to get to know Twist today and she let him pick up her feet! She is very knowledgeable but has just been so scared of people from her past history. She is letting down and accepting people in her life again. Thank you Donald Warren for taking the time to get to know her.
When it’s hot out, it’s time to play in the water or rest your head on your buddies back. Charlie and Ruben
