Re: 2020 Older American Award The City of Torrance Commission on Aging invites you to nominate a qualified senior volunteer from your organization to be conside...red for the 2021 Older American Award. It is truly an honor for deserving seniors to be nominated for this outstanding award. We understand the COVID pandemic may have slowed down many of our seniors for doing volunteer work in the community. But many are working from home in other capacities. For your convenience, we are attaching the nomination form. We can also mail hard copies at your request. A note, the nominees must reside in the City of Torrance. Zip code 90502 is not eligible because it is in the LA County Strip, and is not considered Torrance, only a mailing address. This year, we anticipate the nominees will be selected to receive the City of Torrance 2021 Older American Award at a City Council meeting in May 2021. The Los Angeles County Older America award has been put on hold until further notice. The specific date and details will be mailed to the award recipients by early April. Honorees are welcome to invite their family members and guests to the City Council meeting (usually held mid-May at 7pm).via Zoom. Thank you for taking your time to complete the 2020 Older American Nomination form. This is an opportunity to recognize your senior volunteer. When adding additional information, be sure to list how long your volunteer has lived in Torrance and any other pertinent information. It is time to brag about your candidate’s achievements!
