Let's give nonverbal kiddos a voice by giving them opportunities and devices, such as cues on what to do or when to communitcate something (not all devices are electronic btw), so they can feel heard and respected #communication #adaptation #relateandcommunicate http://bit.ly/HOA_nonverbalautism

Let us use this time for self reflection and keep focused on how we can first improve ourselves and our approach to how we teach so that our psyche/soul is ready to interact with our kiddos in a composed and pragmatic self so as to create the best learning environment for both teacher and student #seektounderstand #bethechange #choosekindness http://bit.ly/HOA_disciplinarymindsetshift

Please consult your family pediatric doctor before exploring new foods and diets with your kiddos. The general idea is that if you feel good inside then you'll do good from without #allthefeels #healthiswealth #bewell http://bit.ly/HOA_dietandautism

As with neurotypical children, children on the spectrum want to feel like they are being heard and given the attention needed when they aren't "feeling it" in their natural setting for learning. When this occurs its important to use calming phrases and say them in a tone that imparts empathy and understanding for that person to feel their frustrations aren't being dismissed. Their emotions are a big make up of who they are so dismissing them would be like dismissing the person altogether. Let's give an empathetic shoulder to lean and learn from which our kiddos become well adjusted to our teachings #empathyrules #alwaysabetterway #whatyousaymatters Click on the following link for more alternative wordings and ways in which to incorporate them in your behavioral intervention strategy plan http://bit.ly/HOA_selfregulatingtips

Getting to know autism #seektounderstand

It takes courage to encourage others. Here's one take from a supermom who shares three perspective changes she has undergone to realize the blessings her child with autism has imparted on her and her family #alwaysbegrateful #respectdignityofautism http://bit.ly/HOA_blogshare Three things gleaned from this blog post...... 1. Focus on the strengths not the deficits 2. Celebrate the little things...don't sweat the small stuff (and it's all small stuff) 3.
