HUSD School teacher Mike Goodsell wants to coach the boys’ basketball team this year. But he feels he is being passed over in favor of the former coach, whom he says, doesn’t have the same rapport with the players as Goodsell does. He addressed the Holtville Unified School District Board Thursday, Sept. 19th to express his concerns and state his position. The School Board took no action on the matter, but took the matter under advisement. According to Goodsell, John Reschert is going to be brought back to coach the boys’ team, even though he retired at the end of the school year in June and has been living in Idaho.

Holtville Girls Volleyball went to String Valley California to compete in the Monarch Invitational 09, at Monte Vista High School on September 11-12, competing against 20 other High Schools including Imperial and Calexico from the Imperial Valley. The Vikings were off to a great start on Friday wining all of there games. There were three different brackets on Saturday, Bronze, Silver and Gold. This moved the Vikings into the Gold Bracket but also meant that they would have to wait until almost 2pm to play their first game on Saturday. This seemed to take its tool on the Vike's as they lost their first game 25-15 and went on to loose the second game 25-19.
